Its been brought to my attention by a few posters, especially Danyls supporters, that people have been receiving PMs from people claiming to be one or the other of the contestants. That in itself is not good, but as i received one myself i was abel to verify with the contestant themself that it wasnt from them

However, some of these PMs are quite nasty and spiteful accusing certain fans of nasty things, being haters etc etc These are causing some people on this forum distress and they are slightly angry.

So can people pack it up please, i think i must have had 5 PMs from now giving me supposed msn details, email addresses etc etc ive not believed any of them but in others it has raised doubts.

To my knowledge, NONE of the contastants post on here, and certainly none of them would sent nasty PMs to people and i hasten to add this is for more than one contestant not just the obvious

Thanks

Its been brought to my attention ...
Why not just forward all of the relevant information to the Mods? If they feel an announcement of some form is necessary, then doubtless they'll post one.

Plenty of contestants have genuinely posted on here before.

Loads of former BB contestants have posted here and quite a few X-Factor ones as well. Remember last BB series when Marcus posted on DS and when no-one believed him, he proved it by mentioning DS and the threat starter (Candle i think it was?) on live TV.

Truth is, you don't know it's not them any more than you know when it is them, not for sure.

Bottom line, they are only people, so treat them as such. If they post trash, treat them as trash, who truly cares which person is sat behind the keyboard. No-one in their right mind believes they are really talking to a contestant, even if they were

They're hardly likely not to if someone is sending people malicious PMs pretending to be other people.

Possibly but we don't know that and even if they do Lisa has given people the nod earlier

But was there really any need to create a stir? It's the sort of thing that's best handled by those who are in a position to take action, and it's far easier to do that without any fuss. All this thread has achieved so far is to tip off those allegedly responsible, and quite possibly encourage others to follow suit.

How do you do that unless someone goes round checking everyone's pms to see if they got one? Not everyone will let "those is a position to take action".

How do you do what? Anyway, clutching at straws. The staff run the place, not the members. If this is really happening, then they're the only people who can put a stop to it. And presumably without posting alarmist, attention-seeking threads, too.

How do you stop people who may have received them beleiving them or being upset.

I am not clutching at anything. The members are the ones receiving the pms. I don't see how it is alarmist and although I wouldn't pay much attention to a pm like that beyond notifying admin and blocking, I am thankful to OP for the timely warning.

Evidently not by starting threads playing backseat mod.

It's a matter for the staff to sort out, not you or your friend who you insist on arguing vainly on behalf of. The OP claims to have received one of these messages themselves. So all they had to do was pass it on to the staff, and let them deal with it. There was never any need to start a thread about it.

Not at all evidently.

I don't agree with you and will always be grateful for anyone who posts a warning to me and others.
If OP had just passed it on to staff, I would not know about it and I am glad I do.

There is no need to start a thread on anything on this forum.

wow I thought you were quoting a mod or something. a bit strange for a member to make such a formal announcement to other members. I'd rather hear it coming from a mod to be honest

I don't think it's strange at all. I haven't been affected but thank you, Lisa, for posting this. There's no need to have the thread removed just because of a few spiteful people.

You wouldn't need to, because it would've been dealt with without any of this fuss.

Then what would you suggest - telepathy?
