This is in responce to the Natalie Cassidy one if they do not like Natalie Cassidy then i do not like Ali Bastian i find her smugness with that creepy looking Brian guy( not sure of his surname) very irratating each week Love to see Natalie in the final but its most likely to be Ali and Ricky how annoying

I found Ali a bit irritating at first - not much personality - but I'm really starting to come around to her. Now that Jade and Ian have left Brian and Ali are my second favourite couple. I really want them to do a decent latin dance though.

What does irratating mean?

"irratable" means unmissable in french, but I doubt that's what you meant.

Not irritating exactly. Wet, soppy, bland and boring, definitely.

OP, the 'natalie' thread was created by a WUM who is trying to make people vote for the people he has bets on. I would take it with a pinch of salt.

Brian's last name is Fortuna.

And I guess I would look as 'smug' as Ali supposedly does if I had a top line equal to hers.

yes, wet and soppy! I do actually find wet soppy people quite irritating, though.

Don`t know why but that made me laugh - sound just like children in a playground

I think Ali is lovely , if a nice young girl who tries her best and has never said a bitchy word ,irritates you then so be it .But to start a bitchy thread so to equal out another one is a little meanspirited in my eyes .

I don't mind Ali but, I do find her a bit "wet" at times, and the whole showmance at the beginning of the series really put me off Brian and Ali as a couple. However, I do love her ballroom; (rightly or wrongly) her ballet training gives her the edge over the other couples when it comes to executing the grace and elegance of ballroom on the dance-floor.

The only thing that does irritate me about her is I think out of all the couples she's the most confident of getting to the final, and yet when asked, simpers that she hasn't thought about it. There have been a few comments where I've thought hmmmm, you're not as fragile as I thought you were. The most obvious one which springs to mind was the VT of her with her foot in ice saying "at least I wont have to do that again", and then ending up in the DO.

Why does being gentle and charming equate to wet & irritating

I think she's lovely and dances like a dream - the only problem I have is her shaking hand which makes me feel nervous when watching her dance but her elegance is second to none.

I like Brian but never warmed to Ali.

It started right back at the beginning of Strictly when week after week she was told she was a good dancer and she always responded oh can I, like it came as a surprise.

I don't deny she can dance but I found it disingenuous simply because she knew she could dance very well beforehand.

So sorry Jade has gone now as she could have been a real challenger. Not the obvious winner etc.

I find her very blah and uninteresting. I can't recall a single dance she's done - I find my mind switching off when she takes to the floor, it's the same with Ricky W.

I don't find her gentle and charming though. Ian to me is the embodiment of gentle and charming. Ali is bland and wet, and like another poster said, simpers.

I don't dislike her at all. I just like women with a bit more fire then she displays. I don't mind moody women, I'm a realist.

My response too and as such it's hardly worth replying to. Criticisms of Natalie have been made for valid reasons or because of the judges' marking. One person's 'irritating' or 'wet and soppy' is another's 'charming' or 'delightful'.

I don't find Ali irritating.

I do find her ultra bland though.

A lot of people made similar criticisms about Rachel last year, who was also fairly timid, but I adored her. I think the difference between the two is their relationship with their pro partners.

Whilst Ali and Brian are romantically involved, they don't seem to bring their chemistry onto the dancefloor. There's no connection there. And I feel like Brian is trying too hard.

By contrast, Rachel and Vincent did seem to click and Vincent had enough personality for the pair of them! I think Rachel's dancing was better overall as well - there was more wow factor in her routines.

I think she is brilliant, Go Ali, he's not bad either.

Ali may be "boring", but she seems like a nice girl -- and she can certainly dance! Now that Jade is out, I'd rather see her lift the Glitterball than any of the others. I do like Laila, but I don't think she deserves to win it.

Ali has actually grown on me a bit. She's a bit bland but I don't find her irritating. Laila is the one that irritates me.

Ali can certainly dance Ballroom.

She's yet to convince me in the Latin though.

My opinion is the exact opposite.

Last year I could admire Rachel's technique, but her performances always failed to ignite even a spark of enthusiasm, and her ITT interviews were in danger of inducing catatonic stupor.

OTOH I think there's a wonderful chemistry between Ali and Brian and I'm enjoying seeing her come out of her shell and display what I think is a rather quirky personality.

That's how i felt at the time that the op who posted the Natalie Cassidy one was being childish so i responded in a childish way with my obvious mistakes that i cannot spell.

I think to make it fair a thread should be made to say how irritating Ricky, Chris and Laila are

I think she's a lovely girl. I don't see Ali as wet, bland and soppy, at all.

Like Spinaker said - One person's 'irritating' or 'wet and soppy' is another's 'charming' or 'delightful' and that is very true
