equality eh folks?

meanwhile your reason for not liking ali isnt best placed as a response to someone not liking natalie

I don't think there's anything to find irritating about Ali except that she's a really good dancer, partnered with a brilliant pro teacher. I find it very irritating that I'm not her!

I don't think she's even got that much substance. Even Austen's soppiest heroines had something about them [and I hate Austen with a vengeance] but Ali is just ... there. She occupies a space and that's about it.

She's adorable and I love her partnership with Brian. Looks like fans of other dancers are really jealous of them.

How odd. I'd have thought the misanthropy of Austen would have appealed.

I love Ali and am loving thei dance ,
BUT that old lame excuse that others are jealous is plain silly .People all differ and all are entitled to like others without being accussed of that nonsence .

Not at all. I don't have a general dislike of the entire human race, just women who behave like little girls when well into adulthood. There are some people I like very much indeed. Ali Bastien is not one of them.

Not irritating at all - comes across as shy, lovely and genuinely enjoying her experience on Strictly.

I quite agree, have you ever heard Ali asking to come back next week.......I haven't.

She is slightly irritating but not as much as Natalie.

Is this the start of a themed how irritating of all the contestants threads

Which celeb will be irritating next?

I did A level lit too but fortunately Austen wasnt in the syllabus.

Persuasion is my favourite book along with Sense and Sensibility.

I'm very surprised that you asked this Bhoy, as I think the "start" was the one you yourself began about Natalie

Ok, I'm going to put my hand up to not only finding Ali irritating but feeling quite guilty about not liking her.
It's like admitting you think kittens are the devils' spawn (which I most certainly don't). And I can't even explain why I find her so annoying. She's polite and nice, always positive and appreciative of others, she's pretty to look at in a non-threatening way, and I'm sure, although not about to set the world alight with witty repartee she's perfectly pleasant company.
All I can say in my defense is.
1 - on the evidence of her dancing, for an actress, she's a really bad actress!
2 - I'm really disappointed that Brian, who I thought had real personality and integrity, has gone down the pushing the romance (whether real or fake) down the media's throat route - and before people shout 'jelus' - I thought he was gay!
3- she's really. really wet.

Lucky you. I did it at O-Level - P & P. A-Level - Emma & Northanger Abbey. University - if I recall correctly, one year it was a study of the diversity of female characters in the works of Austen with special reference to familial relationships. But it was *harumph* years ago and I have tried to wipe it from my memory, so I may be wrong. I do recall that Mary Bennett and Isabella Thorpe featured heavily.

Ali is a sweet, hardworking girl who happens to be extremely talented. No - she is not in your face. No - she does not whinge and whine or beg for votes or expect to have her ego constantly massaged. She has a wonderful relationship with Brian and when they dance there is such chemistry between them. Ali is so graceful and pretty. I, for one, would be extremely pleased if she won Strictly - she is beautiful to watch.

Just because she is an not over-the-top attention seeker does not mean she does not have a personality.

And together, they are twice, no, three times more irritating than any other couple!

Both make my teeth ache. Yes, gritting them will do that...

I have a bit of a crush on Brian

Ali and him make a lovely couple. I love to watch them dance. The only time this series I have felt that tingly feeling was when they did the VW.

Having said that it shows how dire this series has been that it was only that once.
