Danyl's mother: 'Simon prefers Olly'
Quote:
Danyl Johnson's mum has revealed that the singer believes Simon Cowell is deliberately ruining his chances of winning The X Factor. Article here: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/xfactor/...fers-olly.htmlMaria Burgess said that the 27-year-old teacher thinks that Cowell is focusing all his attention on Olly Murs. She told the Sunday Mirror: "Danyl's very upset and frustrated at the way he is being treated. "He feels he's not being given a fair chance and that Olly keeps getting more up-tempo songs. "And he's not getting all the bells and whistles. He's lucky if he gets a perspex box to stand on when he's performing, while the others have much bigger productions. "The week he got a choir, we thought, 'Wow, they have really pushed the boat out'." Burgess added that Cowell does not listen to her son's ideas on what he should be singing. She stated: "The situation is that Simon Cowell knows best. You don't question him. Danyl has voiced his concerns repeatedly, but been met with a wall of silence." If true, I think it's a shame that Danyl isn't allowed as much input into his performance - after all, it's him who has to get up there and perform - if he isn't comfortable then it isn't fair. |

I did wonder when Mum would get involved.
Good for her, sticking up for her boy. However, in fairness, I must pay as much attention to her take on it as any - that is too say, not too much. Its all subjective, and we have no idea what goes on in reality behind the scenes. |

From what I can see it's the weaker singers that get the big productions. The talented singers are left to let their voices do the talking so to speak.

Thats the thing with these 'talent' shows you have to forego all that you've taught yourself to become in order to have even the slightest chance of getting your name known in the industry. Simon Cowell like any other business man acts in the best interests of that business. So he has had to look at who is the more marketable and who is likely to put up with the manipulation in order to get ahead.

Of course she'd say that. I choose to ignore the opinions of the contestants' parents (see Lloyd's mum saying Simon's anti-Welsh, ridiculous).

So Simon prefers Olly. Really, truly can anyone blame him? Apart from anything else, I'm sure the canny Mr. Cowell is painfully aware that should he decide to do anything with Mr Johnson he'll need a whole dirty tricks team to be ever vigilant in putting out the fires Danyl starts.

As much as I like Danyl,I DO wish the mums would stay out of it,it must be embarrasing for the contestants,it happened the other week with someone.they are adults, let THEM deal with it,we all love our boys, but, it doesn't help.

It's poetic when the person to blame for Danyl being a spoilt brat with the attitude of a toddler starts throwing stones.

Danyl has the best voice in the competition but he acts like a brat, Simon picked the wrong Daniel for the live shows.
I think Danyl would be a nightmare to manage. |

Seriously though, what a load of Crap. We constantly hear these stories about Danyl, and all there ever is as a defense is that he's under so much pressure and stuggling to cope blah blah blah. He was quite happy to make appearances on US shows when it was all happy press, but we're now to believe he wasn't expecting any bad press and didn't really know what the show was like? 3 or 4 attempts he has made at this show and we're to believe he is that Naive? It was clear from the start Simon preferred Danyl, Olly was in the first 3 performance slots for the first few weeks and has rarely had the best slot of Simon's acts, Danyl is constantly given the best treatment despite the fact he is a pain in the ar*e. Perhaps now Simon is realising Olly is the act people are talking about as a potential winner, completely disregarding his opinion of "the best auditionee ever" and he is switching sides slightly but it's not unwarranted imo. And if he really was so deserate to stop doing ballads why the hell did he flounce out of rehearsals to demand changing his song to Careless Whisper? if we are to believe he really wants to dance why didn't he demand a more uptempo number? Or is it just a case of people repeatedly telling us he can dance, for the sheep to keep voting for him in the hope that he shows us the moves, when in fact he may not actually be that good. |

Simon should have put more effort into Jamie who is a better artist and less of a diva.
Simon should also never mentor the overs, it always comes to grief when he does. More mature acts have had longer to hone their craft and have stronger ideas on what suits them and how they want to develop. What songs to choose, how to perform etc. Simon likes the control so he is better off mentoring the younger ones who are perhaps easier to control. Danni would be far better with the overs. I also think that Simon should have picked Daniel Pearce and TreyC over Danyl and Olly. Olly just doesn't have it, he may be likeable and a nice bloke but that is about it imo. |

Danyl's mum isn't helping.
Danyl has been given the chance of a lifetime and isn't jsut blowing it on his own, now his family are blowing it for him too. |

Danyl and Jamie should have choosen Britains got talent. X factor is all about giving control to the show, songs, style, clothes etc. They must have seen other shows. Danyl is already his own man but that is not what X factor want.

I would LOVE to see a 'XF Mums Special'. I would well imagine that these people are not bound by all the secrecy stuff that the acts are and could just 'comment' on their general observations.
What a brilliant programme that would be..... Go on Channel 4, you know you want to.

I'm sensing a bit of deja-vu here. The same thing happened last year with Austin - he wanted an uptempo disco song last year for disco week but he got this rubbish/forgettable slow disco song. He wanted to change it but apparently was told it would be on his own head - so obviously he wouldn't take a risk like that and go against Simon Cowell. Danyl's facing the same situation - I REALLY don't understand what games Simon's playing - I thought he liked Danyl

Simon Cowell knows he can win or finish 2nd with Olly but not with Danyl. He knows that if Stacey, Danyl and Joe are in the final Danyl will finish 3rd but with Stacey, Olly and Joe it's unclear who would finish where. He's backing Stacey now because she's the last girl and because he wants to be backing a potential winner. It's also though a tactical ploy because he would rather Stacey won than Joe so by backing Stacey now Danyl supporters are more likely to go to Stacey than Joe, thereby giving Olly a better chance in the final.
It also means that Danyl and Olly won't have to face each other in the semi final as Danyl is likely to be out tonight or next week. Simon realises that Jedward or Lloyd don't present a threat to Stacey or Olly in the semi final. His nightmare scenario is Joe, Olly and Danyl in the final because the anti-Joe vote will be split giving Joe and easy victory. With Stacey, Olly and Joe in the final the vote will be more open and a better chance of Joe finishing 3rd giving Mr Cowell the win win situation. If Olly wins his own act wins if Stacey wins he can say "told you so I backed her weeks ago". |
