Joe's warbling does my head in!
Sorry, I recognise that Joe is a good singer but his warbling at the end of every note, makes me want to throw something at the tv! It's so annoying!
And does anyone think he sounds like Liza Minelli?! |

Lol, dunno about Liza Minelli, but YESS!! The warbling spoils it for me, I've said it so many times!! His vocals are generally faultless, but it's that warble I don't like!!

It's his own style of singing. I like it.

He has a good voice but I don't see him being able to compete with established artists after the show, and as for him being able to do concerts forget it.
He would be another Leon, although I think Leon had a better voice and more versitility. |

I like sooooo much about Joe. I think he's just really sweet and adorable and I love his Geordie accent. I really like his performances and his confidence and he's done some good, good stuff.
But the vibrato is getting out of hand again. I think it was really toned down last week...this week, he was off again. I wonder if it's because DLTSGDOM is a song that he's very used to singing and therefore, can't drop the bad habit of over-trilling? Last week, it was almost as if Yvie had worked with him to tone it right down. |

![]() Yes, there is no doubt Joe can sing, but where is the emotion, the connection with the audience and the stage presence? For someone who has been studying performing arts at college, he seriously lacks in these! |

I like Joe, always have but the warbling is over the top at times.
I also felt last night although he sang the song very well it lacked the emotion of the actual lyrics. I do think he will make the final, but if he were to win I am not sure just how long he would last out there with other artists who are far better. I did not realise he was at stage school, he lacks so much stage presence so what have they been teaching him there? to warble I guess. GG |

![]() ![]() Besides, the use of vibrato isn't illegal or anything. I can understand how over/misuse of it could be irritating, and I recognise that Joe does sometimes go a bit overboard with it. That being said, he is easily the best vocalist in the competition (along with Stacey) and over the weeks he has definitely improved and toned it down. |

The issue may well be when Joe records an album. At the moment, I can suffer the vibrato (to an extent), 'cos the XF is also about performance and some visual input.
An album of Joe's may well be more akin to my washing machine in the spin cycle. If you're just listening and not seeing, it may be tooooo much. |
