She started off much better than Craig and Natalie but they are catching her up in some dances. I think whether she goes will depend on whether she decides to knuckle down and work, or not. I think whether she decides to put the effort in or not depends on whether she has a dance that she likes i.e. not to fast, not too much independent movement and not too complex to remember. Meanwhile the others at the bottom of the board are committed to stretching themselves whatever they get so may overtake her.

What makes it even more interesting is that both the other lower rankers are popular so there is a posibiltiy she will be in the danceoff against one of the better dancers. They only have to slip up. It makes the competition interesting.”

Gone but not forgotten, clearly!

Well I haven't seen this and find it strange how someone can assess someone's attitude from the small clips we see on TV. I'm not a fan of them but wouldn't assume that she's not trying just because you don't like her.

You've clearly never tried to teach someone before...

She doesn't have a 'can't be bothered' attitude at all. Believe me, I'm well aware of what one of those looks like. She comes across far more to me as someone who lacks a little confidence still and is afraid of failure. There's a mental block that won't let her put herself out there in case she doesn't do well.

Claire, do you remember Georgina Bouzova, whose partnership led to many women being turned off James Jordan during his first SCD series? Would you say she was another Laila, or was she just wasting his time and ours?

From what I can remember of Georgina she seemed to genuinely not enjoy the experience at all so hardly surprising she didn't put her all in.

A lot of what we see from Laila is her worrying about things being too hard and looking stressed. There seems to be a definite mental block and I certainly think there's a significant fear of failure there. When she gets it right however, she clearly loves what she's doing.

I'm a professional teacher and have the qualifications to prove it -

I've forgotten more than you'll ever know about teaching

Oh but she does! - How many times have you heard Anton say "Oh Leila tries so hard, or Leila has been working so hard this week"?

I'll tell you - never!

Yet you will definitely hear it about all the other celebrities without exception!

Again that's for blindingly obvious reasons - she can not dance! - I'd equally lack confidence if someone asked me to fly a helicopter on live TV Sat night - Maybe she's very confident in something else - i just wish she'd do that instead of punishing me every week

As I said she's both incompetent dancer and what's worse, she cant be bothered - and for those reasons she should been out weeks ago

Really? I doubt it since I teach in an all boy's secondary school...

Yes, she can. She's not the best dancer there but she has definite talent. Her tango is still one of the best dances this series.

Basically, all this reads as you've taken a dislike to the girl, therefore you believe she isn't trying, can't dance and should go. You're entitled to your personal opinion but don't be surprised when people say it's nonsense and unfounded.

Unless you go into the training room with Laila and Anton, it's rather hard to make a judgement on how hard they're working. I mean, I assume you have the sense not to judge based upon the highly selective clips we see on ITT...

No she hasn't

like other non-dancers she has zero musicality - she cannot even hear the music - i.e you caould play her any tune under the sun (or none at all) and she would forget the very same steps

contrary wise - Natalie, for instance (who is merely a poor dancer), you could play any record you like, out of the blue, put her on her own in the middle of a dance floor and she would dance to it + she really tries hard

= and even then, she's pant's compared to some of the others

but Leila doesn't even have those fundamental qualities

I'll think we'll just have to agree to disagree about her

I was interested to read this post because it confirmed what I'd always thought of Laila. I think she's been vastly overrated and agree she has no musicality. Natalie looks like she has far more, I think thats obvious just from looking at some of her training VT's.

I enjoy watching both Chris and Natalie dance because they both look like they are really enjoying it. I've never seen any real joy from Laila in any of the dances, from training clips or actual live dances on Saturday night. I also think she has zero connection with Anton which doesn't help either. From the look on her face it's almost like she's trying to block out who she's dancing with!

Wow you've really got it in for Laila, JethroUK! She can dance. Period, anybody can dance, and I think she's quite good!

She's a better dancer than Chris and Natalie, and has more personality than Ricky or Ali, imo, and I hope she does a blinder with the charleston this week!

That has been true from the begining and credit to her for being professional enough to work with a partner who was so rude and nasty to her although obviously it is apparent at times that they are never going to be buddies. She could hardly be expected to enjoy her time with him knowing what he is like and what he thinks of her - but can't now say publically.

However I think with another partner she might have enjoyed the experience more and therefore have been more enthusiastic. She has more inate dancing talent than Natlie and Chris but it is doubtful whether this will develop in the circumstances. She has little enthusiasm, he is not professional enough to learn latin better and the partnership was toast long ago.

Well there has obviously been many people who disagree with you. I'd respect you more if you just said I don't like her therefore I'd wish she go rather than make up reasons why she should go. As it happens I think she probably will go either this week or next but that would be about the right time.

I agree about Laila being a better dancer than Nat or Chris, she just looks the part , she has lovely posture and elegance... I will be cheering her on this weekend.

I really have to take my hat off to you for your perseverance in the Anton vendetta! With the end of the series drawing nigh perhaps you should be thinking about preparing yourself for the egg on your face when the full truth of the story emerges!

Like you arlene's boy, I think this story is more complex than most people think (i.e. "dancer uses racist language to partner"). But I don't know if it'll ever come out, as what interest do the Daily Heil, Sun or NOTW have in a truth that doesn't reflect badly on the BBC, its employees or freelancers?

I disagree with the OP. I think she looks very elegant in the ballroom dances, I don't think her latin is very good but then I think that's partly because Anton is her teacher (no offence to Anton - but anyone can see which area of dance he is stronger at).
I also don't think she's lazy - if she was she wouldn't have danced last Saturday on a sprained ankle. I think she gives it her all.

Well I dont dislike people for no good reason! - thats silly

I dont like Leila for very specific reasons and i think i ought to share those, so i do

And to be straight, I dont dislike her as a person - I'm sure she's very nice - I just dont want her to punish me any more by trying to dance

How do you know the others haven't?

At the start of the series I think Anton and Laila were one of the couples who were doing the most training, but their hours have seriously dropped since. Before the injury they were doing about 11 hours a week. The others were doing far more.
