Does anybody else think that the pro dancers have not been paired well this year?

I'm loving Ricky W but not liking Hayley so much and I think that's affecting his popularity.

Not keen on Ola and Chris and think that he's getting more support because of Ola's popularity

Any thoughts?

My thoughts are: who's Hayley?

I know what you mean about Hayley. She seems like a different person this year.

Interestingly I was thinking about this earlier and thought Ricky W and Flavia would have been a great pairing. I don't mind Natalie but, her lack of SCD experience does let her down at times, which is why it's probably good for her that her partner is so gifted. If she had partnered Craig, I think there would have been a serious fall-out because (even with the best will in the world) he would NEVER had reached Ricky's standard of dancing, let alone hers!

I feel Ola is benefiting from having someone as good-natured as Chris because from what I've seen in the training footage when it comes to dancing, she's a right bossy little madam.

On the whole I think the partnerships this year have been very good and with the exception of the Laila/Anton incident we've not heard of any major fall-outs.

I've always liked Ola - she seems really sweet and fun - maybe being held back by James?

He'd have never reached her arms, let alone her standards!

Chris is popular in his own right as a presenter on BBC Breakfast, and Ola obviously is a a SCD professional dancer

I would have liked Ricky W to have been paired with either Flavia or Lilia, and I think he'd come across a lot better if he was with one of them two, rather than the uber competitive Natalie.

I also think Natalie would have been better with a taller partner, as she's virtually the same height as Vincent in her heels, and it looks a bit odd.

Other than that, I think they have been paired quite well this series (Ali could easily have been paired with someone taller, but Brian is just right for her).

It's an interesting point.

Think Zoe would have done far better with Matthew, and, as Martina was out first week (big mistake) that wouldn't have harmed her chances any. Also think she would have done well with Brendan although his character seemed drastically improved by being paired with Jo Wood.

Definitely think Laila drew the short straw. How tall is she? Could she have been paired with Darren Bennett? That said, it would have been too much of a cliche to pair Anton with Lynda Bellingham although his Latin ability is making me think that's the only role he's fit for!

Ricky W would have done better with Erin imo. She's tough and would have got the best out of him but she's also very encouraging, creative and would have been able to exploit his talent beautifully.

Remembering Erin's wonderful AS for Colin Jackson, I think she would certainly have come up with a showstopper for last night - and without any incongruous lifts.

Ola's popularity? Ola was one of the most unpopular pros up until Chris came along. He's popular in his own right.

Natalie should not have been paired with Ricky. She should have gotten Richard Dunwoody & Lilia should have gotten Ricky.

I've always liked Ola - although she is a tough teacher; she does display an air of vulnerability about her that makes the celeb males want to protect her and this normally comes across in the dance.
I do find Chris a bit of a wimp, therefore, she's coming across a bit harder than usual (aka - a bossy madam) to boost his masculinity (which is somewhat lacking).

You may have always liked her but that certainly wasn't the popular opinion last year.

Chris is popular, like he would be with any pro, because he's funny, dedicated, likeable and really cute. That last one may be just me.

Well, considering he's about a foot shorter than her, they would've made a very odd couple.

You'd be hard pushed to find a tall jockey -- they're usually diddy sized.

I'd have preferred to see Lilia paired with Tuffers (I just think she'd have 'got' his personality more and played off it better).

I would also have liked to have seen Laila dance with Matthew (or possibly Brendan although I wonder if they'd have clashed because they are both strong personalities).

I think there have been some odd couples this year....I wonder how I would have taken to Ricky W if he had been with one of the established pros....answer I think I might have liked him better as Natalie is a lot of the reason he isnt coming over well to me. Chris and Ola are an inspired pairing Ola has gone from a pretty girl who distracts from her partners with a cat suit to a fully fledged partnership to savour. Natalie and Vincent are good together too, but Vincent always tends to get on well with his partners. I thought Rav and Aliona were a disaster, in fact the only pairing with a new pro that I think worked was Phil and Katya

Totally agree. If she'd been with Matt she'd still be in.
I think they're trying to give James a chance but I don't think he'll ever win.

Erin doesn't do anything for me & I think she's the least able of the female pros.

I don't mind Natalie, people who are really hard-working & driven don't bother me & I think she's a fantastic teacher. But I she's made two consecutive major choreography errors.

I can see Ricky with Katya - who I really like & think is a great addition.

From what I've read Richard is 5'9'' and Natalie half an inch taller (without shoes presumably), so she would have been too tall for Mr Dunwoody.

Lilia with Tuffers would have been interesting. She gelled wonderfully with Darren Gough and I think she would have been good for him. I also think she'd have been able to choreograph to showcase the ability he had (not that Katya failed to particularly but Lilia could possibly have done it better).

Laila with the new, improved Brendan might have worked well. Think he'd certainly have had little truck with Laila's apparent "I can't do the jive" mentality rather than seemingly going with it as Anton did.
