A whole new world is the best Disney song in my opinion, but the Katie and Peter version is better than the original.

Probably not considered the best but my faves:

If I never knew you from Pocahontas (cut from the original but restored later on)
Baby mine from Dumbo
Beauty and the Beast
Part of your world from The Little Mermaid
Feed the birds from Mary Poppins
Be our guest from Beauty and the Beast (by the lovely Jerry Orbach)

disney songs make me so happy.

the little mermaid is blatantly the best film with the best songs, my top 3 being 1. under the sea 2. poor unfortunate souls 3. part of your world. also:

prince ali from aladdin
colours of the wind from pocahontas
belle from beauty and the beast
i wanna be like you from the jungle book

so many gems.

So, so many. I can always tell when I need to have a night in with a hot chocolate, duvet and nothing and no-one else because I go on a Disney song spree. Off the top of my head, it would have to be, in no particular order other than that win which they opped into my head...

So Close - Enchanted
If I Never Knew You - Pocahontas
Go The Distance - Hercules
Everybody Wants to be a Cat - Aristocats
Little Town - Beauty and the Beast
Part of your World - Little Mermaid
If She Loved Me - Toy Story 2
How Does She Know? - Enchanted

I think of all of those, my two favourite (one upbeat, one downtempo) are both the Enchanted ones. So Close because it's the kind of song I've always wanted my first dance to. How Does She Know? because it's a brilliant live-action parody of all Disney songs - everyone seems to know it and joins in.

Oh and Enchanted does have 'Happy Little Working Song'. that deserves a mention just for the visuals...

These songs are amazing I'm a sucker for the soppy ones

Disney films have SO gone downhill since they stopped having songs in their films.

My favourites: He's a tramp, Lady and the Tramp
Be Prepared, Lion King
Poor unfortunate souls, Little Mermaid (Pretty sure i read a while back that this song and 'he's a tramp' are sung by the same person.)

I have high hopes for 'The Princess and the Frog' - it's Disney's return to 2D animation and it's out here in February

Just found this thread - so many great songs to choose from Disney.

When You Wish Upon a Star - Pinocchio

Supercalafragilistic, Feed The Birds - Mary Poppins (if this counts)

I Wanna Be Like You, Bare Necessities - Jungle Book

Part of Their World, Under The Sea - The Little Mermaid

Beauty and the Beast, Gaston, Be Our Guest - Beauty and the Beast - I agree a lot of the pieces sound Broadway like, particularly Be Our Guest.

Prince Ali, A Whole New World - Aladdin

You've Got a Friend In Me - Toy Story

When Somebody Loved Me - Toy Story 2:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=px0j1EHF8Y0 One of the saddest and most poignant things Disney has done IMO. Randy Newman wrote some great songs.

I Just Can't Wait To Be King, Hakuna Matata, Circle of Life, Can You Feel The Love Tonight - The Lion King

Special mention: Dig a Little Deeper, Almost There - The Princess and The Frog - memorable and catchy toe tappers from Randy Newman, great

A Whole New World - Aladdin
I Just Cant Wait to be King - The Lion King
Part of Your World and Kiss the Girl - The Little Mermaid (I watched this at the weekend for the first time in years and had forgotten how amazing it was)

Nah, the bad guy songs are boring! I guess considering one doesn't tend to empathise with the character it's done as well as it can be.

Agree with grimtales1 on Princess and Frog songs - they're so funky! But will add 'Gonna Take You There'

Has anyone been in PhilharMagic at DisneyWorld? That nearly made me cry the first time I saw it, brings back so many memories from great Disney songs.

Was just about to post the exact same thing! Love the musical version but Celine's pop hollering just ruins it.
