Does anyone know how many copies she has sold? I looked at the charts and shes out the top 10 already and JLS sold a lot more in their first week. Has she had lower than expected sales?

JLS have had the biggest first week sales of any of the X Factor related acts. Even Alex and Leona didn't match them. But Susan Boyle has overtaken them.

As for Cheryl I'm not sure. She sold well but I always suspected it would be a rush peak with her and then a fast drop. Susan Boyle might actually be the same with everyone buying it at once.

JLS appear to be outselling Leona this week.

Subo however is going to trounce all mentioned as she has sold 133k in one day in the UK, god knows how many sales she will get world wide.

First week Sales

Leona Lewis - Spirit - 376,000

JLS - 239,000

When you consider the insane amount of publicity Cheryl gets compared to Alex, the fact that they are basically selling the same is a good look for Alex. Both Alex and Cheryl will hit platinum this week. Alex has basically disappeared since her album release. Cheryl is on the cover of 7 diffferent magazines every week, is watched by 13 million people every weekend on X-Factor, and has done big promotional gigs like Children In Need (duetting with Snow Patrol ect). And now she's getting her own Christmas TV special.

You can't get away from Cheryl. Even with Alex having an extra week, I'm surprised Cheryl hasn't run away from her in terms of album sales. I don't really think we'll know whiich album does better for several months (but Alex has the better album critically speaking, and more quality songs, so that might make the difference). But it's a good sign that Alex can keep up with Chery, with a fraction of her publicity.

I think Alex's album will get another push when she releases her next single which in my opinion is much better than Bad Boys which i think is probably the weakest song on the album (always start the album from track 2 when listening).

I do sometimes wonder if Bad Boys was chosen to help Cheryl Cole's solo efforts, if Alex would have realeased overcome or one of her ballads (even good night good morning) she could have possibly sold more.

These are just my opinions and i'm not trying to turn this into an Alex V Cheryl thread......

That's an interesting point someone made (sorry can't remember ), about Alex disappearing from the release of Bad Boys. I guess its not even a case of that its just because since she's released, theres been someone big releasing after her so i suppose in a way she's been at a disadvantage releasing first.

JLS were always going to win that battle, there's so many young girls after them, buying into that group.

Cheryl...i think the album sales are good for her, a lot of people would be forgiven for forgetting she actually was a popstar with everything else thats going on.

Leona...lead single was weak

Susan Boyle....well this is pretty much what happened with Leona's first album. I think everyone's more shocked that she's actually released something.

"JLS were always going to win that battle"

If you look at threads a few months before Alex, Leonas & JLS albums were released.. everyone had thought JLS would sell the least out of the 3.. which hasnt been the case

I know they have a big fanbase.. but dont think many people expected them to sell as well.. over 100k in their second week aswell

Cheryl's should be stable or even improve as it's likely the three words video for her second single will be released soon.

I've just been listening to JLS's album samples on amazon and they sound pretty good to be honest. I wouldn't say they sounded amazing, but they definitely sound GOOD though.

I think the only reason Cheryl's album is stable is due to her still being seen on the X-Factor. Once this series finishes......

The thing with Alex is that Bad Boys isn't really an album seller. I honestly think she should have released 2 singles at once like Beyonce did. Maybe 'The Silence', that way people would have more reason to buy it. The days of releasing one single then spacing the next releases every 2 months are over. Singles have to be released fast now especially if you release the album along side the first single. People can then buy the songs whenever so affecting the chart placings of future singles.

She should have released Silence and Overcome before she released the album Overcome.

The Boyle will sell 1 million copies worldwide in the first week, which is just crazy. I doubt her sales will slow down that much up to Christmas, especially with her story thing on ITV in December. I predict about 1 million sales by Christmas in the UK and 3 million worldwide.

Could JLS surpass 50,000 by the end of Xmas? Can't believe they're doing that well.

Why, exactly?

Do people watch her on The X Factor and think 'Oh, I must go buy her album?'

Her album has been out for a month now, those who watch The X Factor would have bought it if they wanted to already!

However I think it's pretty clear that Cheryl is more of a single seller than an album seller based on sales of FFTL vs. 3 Words (Album)

Although I expect her show will certainly boost sales of both

Why? Well, perhaps because with her being a Judge on the show she's giving herself publicity? What makes you think that the majority of fans aren't just buying her album because they've gotten to know her from the X-Factor? The X-Factor's made Cheryl very famous in Britain, very famous.
