Claudia was ghastly on the ITT show tonight. She was tactless, crass and unable to deal with genuine emotion. Terrible interviewing. She totally misjudged the moment.

I am a big fan of Claudia , I love ITT ,But have to agree, she handled it very badly and looked really bad as she had all but wept with Jade the other day

It wasn't her finest hour, but I don't think she realised just how serious the injury was.

Considering Ali had her fall on Monday, Claudia should have been better prepared for this interview.

"I just want to go WOOOO-hoo"

she announced at one point!

Grow up Claudia, the 'mad as a frog' style works for the lighter stuff, but it was well out of place tonight.

she didn't handle it terribly well, but i imagine she would have been better if Ali herself had been there, then at least she could do the whole hand-holding and comforting thing.

I thought she was fine. Wasn't as if someone had died was it?

I think she'd have handled it better if Ali had been there too.

Already posted this on the ITT thread so am pleased that others picked up on it too! She was grinning like a madman throughout the whole thing and seemed pleased that Ali and Brian might be out of the competition. Am very disappointed as she is usually good at doing the sympathy thing. Poor Brian looked like he was going to blub

Claudia undoubtedly has her charms but she's never been a good interviewer....so it was par for the course.

The way I took it was that she was trying to stop Brian from being so serious and down and trying to lighten the mood.

I think she would have been more sympathetic if Ali had been there as she was for Jade (Mind you Jade had more at stake than a dance show with the Olympics two years away).

She seems to get on really well with Brian and Ali - normally on ITT Brian is always happy and enjoying the show so maybe she just didn't know how to react to a side she never seen of Brian. Also Brian and Ali were supposed to be on tomorrow night show and it was changed last minute.

If Ali was not able to walk so she could not be there today, there is no way she will be taking part on Sat.
What a jinxed series of SCD

Just to defend Claudia for a second - I know as a viewer, I felt Brian's story of what happened was heading for a happy ending.

He explained in detail the possible injuries Ali could have sustained (torn ligament, fractured bone), but finished off by proclaiming Ali has 'bruising of the bone.'

Maybe Claudia latched onto the word 'brusing' and breathed a sigh of relief that it wasn't either of the other things (which sounded more serious) and thought there was every chance that things would be OK. Hence why she was so light hearted.

Just a thought.

it was easy enough to read Brian tonight and how he was feeling Claudia just didnt seem to grasp it she acted in her silly schoolgirl mode and it just wasnt the right time or place

You can't blame ignorance or false hope from Brian's words because surely Claudia would have been briefed on the extent of Ali's injury before the interview?

The change of guests seemed very last minute - Cherie said she'd been speaking to Chris and Ola, suggesting that they turned up for their interview. Twitter this afternoon said Chris and Ola on and only a short time before the show it said Ali and Brian. Then only Brian was there.

Perhaps Claudia hadn't had any time to meet with Brian beforehand and so didn't realise how worried he was. As I said, it seemed a VERY last minute change of schedule.

I'm sure Claudia and the ITT team had plenty of time before the programme started to grasp how serious the injury is, and it must be very serious if Ali could not put in an appearance .

This nuance must have gone straight over my head cos I didnt pick up on that at all. I was probably still ah ha ing at Brian saying 'we got up early at 8 and went to doctors'. Now had I been Claudia I would have pounced on that but was admiring her for not doing it!

Now I find she was being crass anyway!

Plus the fact that it happened on Monday , Claudia misjudged today and looked a right Noddy with her giggling . Such a shame as she usually reads the situations very well, today she didnt

Thats the sentence that made me go
So the rumours of a relationship are true.

I heard it too and winked to myself , But " we got up early "can still be in two differnt houses technically speaking .,

I totally agree with this thread, he looked shaken and emotional and her tone was all wrong, like with the singing some Charleston music then saying 'not music like that obviously' while he was speaking. I noticed that line about 'we got up early too', interesting!

I felt so sorry for Brian on ITT tonight, you could see he was genuinely worried about Ali - poor man was very emotional. Both he and Ali have put so much time and effort into the show and it would be heartbreaking if they had to pull out.

I am still upset Jade was too injured to dance - and Laila danced with a sprained ankle. I really think SCD is jinxed this year.

I get the feeling that Claudia noticed it, was fervently hoping that no one else did and at the same time a producer was saying in her ear 'that's done it now' (or words to that effect ).
Brian will feel it more possibly than Ian, given the relationship status and I wouldn't have liked to be in Claudia's shoes (lovely tho they are) trying to cope with the possible 'outing' of Ali and Brian, the producer having 'kittens' in her ear and trying feverishly to stop Brian dissolving into the tears that were all but spilling out.

I don't think she handled it well but it was a nightmare to deal with.

I wonder if the producer had one of those Music Hall 'hooks' ready to tow Claudia into the wings if she went even more wrong in her interview by picking up on the went to the doctors at 8 comment.

The interview with Brian should have been pre-recorded. It was so sad to hear of yet another injury - but Claudia made the whole situation worse with her gurning and whooping.
