Would Ali get an unfair advantage if she gets a week off when Laila had to dance on?

OK here we go again.Another dancer who cant dance and by the looks of it is trying to get a week off to give them more time to recover

This is making a farce of the whole series

Why don't we just all quit now and come back on December 19th for their Ali v Ricky final that the BBC is all so desperate for now

I guess if Chris or Laila get through this week they should have a week off as well the week after so as they can have more time to prepare for the final

Ive said it before and Ill say it again. If you ain't fit to dance then thats it...Your out...no bye for a week

well Laila did effectively get a bye that week - she was the worst dancer and should have been out

should have been out weeks ago imo

For goodness sake. What is it about this issue you can't grasp? Is it like a mental block?

Really bad injury, she can't walk and has done no training.

Laila chose to dance that week.

But it all boils down to the severity of your injury.

I don't share other people's skepticism and maintain that Laila had genuinely sprained her ankle. But she was told by the doctor that she could dance without making it worse.

Jade's injury was different. She might have made things worse by dancing. So it was only right she be given a 'bye.' The same goes for Ali if the doctor decides she's not fit to dance.

It's all by the book.

Having said all that, I think it would be fitting if everyone was able to progress this week. It would just be a nice gesture.

Thank you. I've been trying to find out what people are talking about. Will have to download ITT from iPlayer I think.

And it would avoid any risk of a one-person final!

OP: No, not unfair, just as it wasn't with Jade.

Seriously, Bhoy? After the huge failure of the similar thread you started about Jade missing a week? Do you never learn?

Bhoy has been given this explanation countless times and still doesn't understand so I fear you are wasting your time Sid

Good evening Bhoy.

No, in answer to your opening question. I dont think it is unfair. The injuries are different (sprain versus bruised bones - pretty damn hard to bruise a bone so she's obviously given herself a darn good go).Laila could walk on her foot - albeit with a limp and was told by a Dr she could dance. Ali hasnt been able to put pressure at all on her foot for a few days, which shows the injury is more serious than Laila's and therefore its a completely different situation.

All I can say is let us see what Ali's doctors/physios say in the next few days and perhaps we can discuss if Ali gets a bye if its definate. Its not definate at the moment, so speculating on it is slightly pointless. And implying that Ali is trying to get a week off to recover is unfair, she's allowed to have a bye if the Doctors say so and deservedly so.

I wish Ali all the best, it would be heartbreaking if she couldnt continue in the competition.

FFS! How cruel can you get? Try and put yourself in her place OP! I hardly think she's "trying to get a week off". She danced throught the pain the last time she was injured so I'm sure that if she can actually walk she'll try to dance! And Laila did not HAVE to dance on - she chose to. Getting a bit sick of you trying to find scandal and controversy in every little thing that happens now!

From what I understood, if Laila had chosen not to, she'd have been booted off the show.

You only get a 'bye' if the doctor advises you're not able to dance.

Well I wish her all the best too but as you know my opinion and if she cant dance on Saturday then I think she should be out

OK heres a thought

Say this had happened in the semi final week.Would she get a bye to the final

If this happened in the week of the final would they have postponed it

I think we all need to know the rules further

I don't think this was ever explained properly, actually. I was under the impression that Laila could have had the bye but didn't, though it's perfectly possible I'm wrong.

The rules say that the bye is only available until the quarter final - so no and no.

Yes I know, sorry I should have been clearer. I meant that she chose to continue despite the pain rather than pull out. Which by what I gathered from Brian tonight will be the same options given to Ali. He seemed to be mentioning having to retire as opposed to just missing a week!

The rules are on the BBC website Bhoy.

And if Ali cant dance and doesnt get a bye but Jade did, then I think that is rather unfair.

I know you dont like it, but I think you should resign yourself to expecting Ali getting a bye for next week because complaining about it isnt going to do anything apart from causing animosity on here because most people felt Jade getting a bye was fair last week and I am certain noone will complain about it this week with Ali.

I think that's what has been unclear all along, in the case of Jade we were given a definitive answer, but with Laila and now it looks like Ali not so much. I suppose there is the possibilty that like Laila, Ali's injury may not be worsened by dancing (or cause any long term damage) but would be hellish painful to dance on. So it'll be left up to her, but I do think if it is and she can't dance it'll mean she'll be out.

No Zan, Laila didnt get a bye because she was cleared medically by a Doctor as they deemed her to be fit to dance on her injury without causing serious harm. However, the reason Jade got the bye is that the risk of serious harm was too high for her to be medically cleared.

God the BBC really dont know how to make up rules do they.

Whats the diffrence then.Is an injury classed as more serous at the early stages than the later

OK say Laila,Ali and Ricky semi final....

Laila has a bad injury but not as bad as Ali.DR says Ali cant dance and Laila can but Laila this time decides she wont risk it

Does Ali get to the final with Ricky or does Ricky just win the whole thing there and then?
