Would Ali get an unfair advantage if she gets a week off when Laila had to dance on?

The problem with an injury bye is that it becomes more influential the further into the competitio it goes. If it happens early there are still loads of competitors so the odds were in your favour for staying anyway and it is still likely to be a weak dancer tha goes. At this stage though there would be 2 out of 4 dancers to go into the DO so everybody is more affected by it and a decent dancer may go who would mayb have stayed otherwise. Troubl is they are unning out of numbers to dance in the final if someone goes this week and Ali were later to drop out - there is no wriggle room regarding numbers left. May well need a carryover with no eliminaton and with Ali automatically carrying 1 point over from this week (no doubt the judges would give her high enough marks (lets guess..how about 5) the next week to bring her up to mid/top of the table )

Sorry, I understand the difference between Jade and Laila's situations, I just didn't think they'd ever specified that Laila wouldn't have been able to have the bye - as far as I remember, we were only told that she was given a choice to dance or not. If they have, then I should pay more attention!

Oh its definately not a wind up. You can absolutely bruise a bone as it is very 'vascular' meaning it is surrounded by a lot of blood vessels. I didnt catch all of the update so Im not sure how Ali has injured herself but her injury will have cause the blood vessels in and around her bones to break, causing swelling and pain. I know it doesnt sound serious but it can be very painful and take a while to heal.

I cant pretend to know an awful lot about MRI results of bruised bone as I am not a radiologist, however, I can imagine the MRI (which is excellent at showing bones and similar tissue) will show that the bones she has bruised have a different shading due to the blood in the injury. Radiologists grade images by a priniciple giving different matter a different numerical number depending on its appearance, so the blood would have a characteristic appearance on the MRI. The MRI would also have definately given a clear image of any fracture or ligament tear.

Sorry, thats probably as clear as mud!

Well i think the same as you. Laila was given the choice of whether to dance or not however it was never explained by the BBC what would have happened if she'd chosen not to dance.

Most people assume it would have meant her having to withdraw but that was never actually stated by the BBC.

Thank you DrBol , that makes sense , I was just not clear if they meant bleeding into the surrounding tissue or breaking of the actual vessels in the bone itself
Altough she fell heavily I am surprised at the extent of the injury and so dissapointed for them both

OK heres a thought

Say this had happened in the semi final week.Would she get a bye to the final

If this happened in the week of the final would they have postponed it

I think we all need to know the rules further”

Some of us do - the 'bye' rule only applies up until the quarter final

What about Jade? Jade was going to get the week off. Therefore, if Ali can't dance - she should be allowed the week off too. And Laila wasn't forced to dance - she chose to.

Guess it`s similar in trying to tell Craig Kelly he couldn`t dance very well ?

This is making a farce of the whole series

Why don't we just all quit now and come back on December 19th for their Ali v Ricky final that the BBC is all so desperate for now

I guess if Chris or Laila get through this week they should have a week off as well the week after so as they can have more time to prepare for the final

Ive said it before and Ill say it again. If you ain't fit to dance then thats it...Your out...no bye for a week

”

I'm really getting tired of your threads now. As I understood, they will be out of the competition if Ali doesn't dance on Saturday. Any fool could tell that this was not staged to get a week off.

All I did was ask the question. Its up to others to give their opinion whether they agree with me or not

Thats what a forum is all about

I think - and hope - that if Ali is passed medically unfit to dance (i.e. doing so would aggravate her injury), she will get a bye.

And no it is not unfair.

Please Bhoy - if everyone left in the competition sustains an injury between now and the final, try to refrain from starting any more duplicate and inane threads: simply reread and try to digest the explanations already offered.

It isn't rocket science!

I like Ali and I too hope she passes fit as I don't like to see anyone leave the competition unfairly

I don't though think anyone should get a bye either

Just my opinion mind.Hope you can understand that

Can't quite believe some posters reaction to a serious injury. this is what people do and say about a 'popular' celeb on the show, god only knows if she was a disliked one. It's been a terrible series for accidents and that's how I see them all ACCIDENTS. It was fair for Jade to have a bye so it should be for Ali. Laila chose to dance, sorry to wind people up but I voted for them because what I saw of the dance made me think that if they had been fully fit it would have been great and some of the weaker dancers would still have been weak. Can we just end this series without anymore controversey (know that's not spelt right sorry). Perhaps the show have become very competitive for the celebs and they are just not up to it. they work so hard so lets just appreciate them please

So you don't like seeing anyone leave the competition unfairly, but you don't want anyone to get a week's bye if they're injured?

So you would have forced Jade to do her tango on her injured knee to keep her place in the competition, even though she'd been advised not to dance by a doctor? I think you'll struggle to find supporters of that approach. Just warning you.

You'd have a lot more time if you resisted the temptation to start numerous threads on the same subject Bhoy.

You built up quite a lot of goodwill over your Craig K support - hey even I was sucked into voting for him - but sadly you've squandered any such indulgence with your repetitive and irritating threads.

Who'd have thought we'd actually need a real doctor on this forum just to explain all the different injuries that have been so prevelant this year to us? Glad Dr Bolognaise is here!
