Could Shane Ritchie take Bruce's place?

There's been a lot said about Bruce Forsyth retiring at the end of this series and TBH I do hope it is his last one as he just is not funny any more, it's sad watching him in a way, he was an all time great presenter back in the day, but he just takes over on the programme now and I turn it down when he is talking, as he is just so unfunny, which means I usually miss the judges comments, spoiling my enjoyment of the show

The usual people have been mentioned, but I have been thinking and why not give Shane Ritchie a go? He has done musical comedy on stage, and presented the missing lyrics show on Sky 1, the name of which I have totally forgotten, but it is 5am so allow me that please!!

He is funny, entertaining and I think would be good alongside Tess, allowing her more input into the show, he could be a really good replacement for Bruce when he does decide to step down, which I think could be at the end of this series, as I think he knows himself if he is honest, he just can't present the show in the same way any more.

I would be interested to see what others think about this, could Shane Ritchie do the job?

no. Hes not good enough to present at a butlins.

I agree that Bruce needs to go, but every suggestion I've heard for a replacement has been completely hideous.

Can't we just kidnap Tom Bergeron from the US version?

That's half the problem. There isn't any obvious replacement. Any suggestions are sooner or later met with 'oh no, not...'. There isn't one unanimous voice for anybody. Bruce is going to be quite hard to replace in that regard.

Shane Ritchie - definately not

Maybe they just need some new scriptwriters for Bruce? His adlibs are fine, it's the scripted jokes that are cringeworthy and they're not his fault.

With regards to Shane Ritchie, if they appointed him, this viewer would be hitting the off button quicker than a Natalie Lowe coreographed routine.

Bruce is naff and Shane (sorry) is just plain vulgar.

My vote goes for kidnapping the urbane, clever and sophisticated Mr Bergeron. He is fabulous

I don't think Shane Ritchie would be right for Strictly. He comes across in real life like the Eastenders character he played. Think they need to find someone with a bit more prestige.

I quite liked the suggestion of Brian Conley - can't remember who made it now.

Ever noticed on DWTS when Tom does a link on his own directly to camera he fidgets quite a lot and always looks like he's about to walk off. No criticising just wondered if anyone lese notices this?

I still think the 'natural' successor to Brucie is Graham Norton.

He tackles this sort of show well (as seen by the ALW shows) and I think he would create some good repartee with the judges.

I would hate to someone bland take over, it would take some of the fun away from the show for me. People have already said it's become too serious.

Shane Richie? Isn't he ex of Coleen Nolan? I thought he was just a 2-bit actor?

There's been a lot said by lots of people who have no proof that Bruce is definitely retiring.

No one knows for certain that a replacement is actually required afaik.

I can't think of anyone who could fill his shoes.

Why does it have to be a bloke that replaces Bruce? There isn't a queue of suitable men at the BBC (though what we think of as suitable and what the BBC does is 2 different things I think....Ronnie Corbett ).

Shane Richie - no way - he would be more Clacton than Blackpool.

Surely that should be Brighton?
Much as I like Shane Ritchie, I don't think the comedic side is the most important aspect of a successor to Bruce - the Cheeky Chappie should be on the dance floor.

We need someone with presence, an air of authority (to handle the tiffs between Len and Craig for a start ), who is debonair and if male, looks hot hot hot in a tuxedo.

Yep, James Bond it is for me

”

Yup.

Someone with a hint of gravitas - I still like that it's a meant to be a competition and not knock down drag out humour.
Someone that doesn't take it too seriously though, yet without taking the pss.
Someone who's not Shane Ritchie
but I've no idea who yet.

NO NO PLEASE NO! He is such an attention-seeking egotist that there wouldn't be any dancing, just the Shane Ritchie Show

NO....the thought of it makes me want to vomit.

It would make the show unwatchable.

He is talentless, utterly talentless he will more likely be too busy begging to go back on Eastenders or IACGMOOH.
