It would give the BBC the opportunity to get another judge in or even shake up the judges' panel completely. Keeping Craig, of course.

The judges year on year don't know if they are going to be asked back. So we wouldn't know for certain until late summer next year anyway. Bit like the professional dancers it is at the BBC's discretion to ask them back. Past two years I remember Len being asked if he's doing it next year and his answer is always as long as the BBC will have him.
Funny though after the replacing Arlene debacle this year. In the event Alesha has other commitments you know we want Arlene back (and she has stayed faithful to the BBC with the Strictly tour and everything). However I wouldn't put it past the BBC to cut their nose off to spite there face and try and find someone else. They'd probably see getting Arlene back as backing down or losing face. |

I think it's fair to say she's not set the World alight with her stint on the show, so I'd not be surprised if she stepped down next year and focused on her music career.
The whole show needs a massive shake up next year - this year has just been, frankly, dull. We need Karen Hardy as a judge, for starters. |

I agree with violet_creme, the whole series needs shaking up - or dropping - next year, this year has Not Been Good.
I can't imagine that BBC officials are "in a spin" - there is no reason why they should have to re-engage her: it's not a job for life. |

Alesha has been ok but i wouldn't be bothered if she didn't come back. However i'd be furious if they asked Arlene back - i've really enjoyed not having to listen to her drivel this year.

I would be very suprised if she is back next year, but whether that would be by her own choice or not I am not so sure.
I dont think they will bring Arlene back and I hope they dont, its never a good idea to go back to something you thought was familiar its often more annoying than you remember. |

Best news I've heard all series! I agree no point in going back either, Arlene is history. Give Karen the job, her, Craig and Bruno would be fab. Forget the Darcey thing too.

Cynical me says AD is perhaps finding a way to "walk" before she is pushed .... and so when the Beeb doesnt decide to ask her back, then she can say she was never going back...

I used to be a big fan of hers and was delighted when she won but would love to see her off the panel. Her treatment of Chirs and Craig K was nothing short of spiteful.

This hasn't been the best career move for her, and I would have been very surprised to see her back next year. I was hoping when I read the thread title that she was quitting this year already!
Not sure about Arlene. There was a dynamic to that panel that sort of worked, and maybe Len would seem less irritating if we had Arlene back to moan at. Karen would certainly have my respect, but she might be a little too serious. Whether it's better the devil you know, or better to risk another failure? |

I'm glad that Alesha's leaving because I don't think she's really worked at all as a judge, and I'd love for Karen to take a role for two reasons - partly because I love her, and partly because she'd do exactly the same stuff all the other judges do regarding scoring, and end up disliked and called a "malicious bitch" within about 5 weeks at the most, and the ironing would be delicious.

When asked if she would return next year, Dixon told The Mirror: "I'd like to, but there's talk of me going to America to promote my album, so I'll take each day as it comes."
What would an employer (Aunty Beeb) normally do if you said that to them? They'd say well the choice wont be yours - you wont be coming back because we'll get someone else without such a 'busy schedule' that actually wants the job so now you're free to do as you please next year . |
