Maybe it's for the best.

I don't think it's worked having Alesha on the panel.

I would like to see a fresh start next series.

Doubt it.

It has to be an "over the top" sort of personality, knowledge of ballroom, will be pretty low on the list, that's why the most qualified, Karen Hardy won't get it.

Come on. "It's show business" not "Come Dancing."

I was always a bit cynical about Arlene's departure, especially when she was resigned for thee 2010 tour. I have wondered if the truth was that she had time out in order to concentrate on the auditions etc for the new dancing show in the pipeline.

Personally I prefer Arlene as a judge, but could take or leave a return, the only judge I would miss is Craig, especially with his slightly softer personality transplant this year.

If she does they should get Karen Hardy in to replace her. I like Karen and shes brilliant at Jiving.

I think he main thing for next year is too either have 3 judges or 5 as this Len is head judge rubbish is totally unfair

Oooh, that's a big question.

I've found it boring and dull, and usually I'm a massive, obsessive fan. I miss Arlene or at least, a professional whose opinion can cause debate on the panel - I find Alesha just completely superfluous and her appointment annoyed me. I just think too that the format has gotten a little stale and needs a bit more pazzazz. I would:

1. Advise them to try everything possible to film in Blackpool every week with an audience all in evening dress. Real, old school glamour not to mention a proper ballroom space. Make Strictly an event again, get journalists out there on the night commenting on audience outfits (a la Ascot) and auction off tickets for charity so it's a real treat to be there.

2. Brucie needs to retire. He's a legend, but he makes the whole thing seems more Songs of Praise than a contemporary Saturday night entertainment show. When he was away and Ronnie Corbett turned up, it felt like a pastiche of the show rather than the show itself. It was just embarrassing.

3. Don't go up against The X Factor - the BBC is not a commercial channel and shouldn't even be trying to complete with that phenomenon. Either put Strictly on in the Spring or make sure it doesn't clash.

4. Get. Karen. Hardy. As. A. Judge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. Make the dance off fairer - go to public vote if tied at the Judges vote. WTF is Len doing getting the decider - he's the one who has never scored below a 7!

Um...there's more, but I've rambled enough. Basically, this year has felt a little creaky and cheesy and old fashioned and like whoever is in charge is paddling madly like a hamster on a wheel not knowing what they're doing.

Interesting how there is talk of her leaving a couple of days after she is pictured in the press looking less than.................her best.

If she gave them that quote, and if we knew that, then the discussion would made sense.

But since we don't know, why is the tabloid article being taken seriously?

If we followed that logic then we couldn't discuss anything until we had it properly verified. I know tabloid newspapers are not the most reliable of sources, but they don't make everything up. It's not certain Alesha said it, but I think that until it is proven that she didn't then it's fair enough to discuss it.

I hope she does leave, don't like her comments - they add nothing, she is just there to add a bit of glamour

I just knew we would hear something like that, i have been waiting for it. I expected the beeb to make an announcement before the next series to say Alesha is leaving to persue other career choices. Whatever. As far as i am concerned it wont be a moment too soon. I reckon they want rid of her and she knows she hasnt set the programme alight.

this wouldn't surprise me

I like Alesha but she doesn't have credibility as a judge - when she makes technical comments you think 'what do you know' and when she doesn't and says things like 'you should get an extra point for wearing pink' she just sounds ridiculous

it's not really her fault - the producers have tried something new and it didn't work, we should all be about moving forward

unfortunately the judges haven't had the same dynamic with her there and they need to change that

He's held the BBC to ransom, and of course the Beeb being the Beeb, they've been so scared of losing him they've given in.

I look forward to the day they realise that the show is bigger than any one of the participants and even if they lose or sack people, if they replace them with competent, interesting characters (as they have done with several of the pro dancers) they can still attaract huge ratings.

IMO the BBC has taken on board the nature and number of complaints, and general displeasure at the appointment of Alesha, as well as her less than stellar performance. There was no way she would have been dumped mid-series just because some viewers are unhappy. But....not renewing her contract would seem to be the ideal solution. Alesha can progress her 'career' elsewhere and the Beeb can quietly appoint a new judge. I think she has been given a very heavy hint that it is time for her to move on!

here's hoping Alesha flies onward and upward. Well onward anyway, bring back someone that knows what they're talking about, and has had more than a couple of years experience.

I hope Alesha comes back next year -- just to p*ss off all her haters.

I hope so OP. I really loved Alesha as a contestant but as a judge it is not working. I cannot take anything she says seriously because I do not feel she has enough experience in dance as the other judges.
I am not an Alesha hater, on the contrary, I think she has done fantastically well but I think putting her on the judging panel was not a good idea and struck me as a response to having a Cheryl Cole type character on the judging panel.

I don't think anybody hates the girl (I hope not anyway).

But they haven't accepted or taken to her as a judge.

I think they may breathe a sigh of relief. Doubt they want to renew her contract anyway.

What about every week having a guest judge to represent the viewers like a celeb judge

We could maybe have Andy Murray for example one week and then maybe Henrik Larson the next.We could even invite back some of the SCD former celebs like the legendary Craig Kelly for example

But would you be prepared to help the BBC up their usual judge's salary, to a level that would compensate Karen for putting her lucrative dancing school and private lessons businesses on hold?
