As announced by Claudia and Flavia last night, I think its a great idea to have a competetive dance and then its every couple for themselves and I like it that it will also be scored. I think it will favour the celebrity males though as they have been in that position before and will be able to lead properly.

I think Saturday will be great

I think you mean the male professionals ?..they will have overwhelming advantage. For this reason alone, I think the decision to introduce a competitive group dance has been ill conceived. The male celebrities already have an acknowledged disadvantage, why introduce a discipline that just intensifies that disadvantage ?
If I believed in conspiracy theories, I might suggest it's to benefit a couple of the judges' favourites who otherwise might be in for a difficult week.

I thought that too!! How easy for Cola for instance to get lower marks in this than say ooooh some of the lady celebs??!!

It seems a stupid idea to say the least at this stage in the comp- a group dance yes- competitive no!

I agree I'm worried too that team Cola will be disadvantaged.

Given that, after this series, there will almost certainly only have been one female winner in the last 5 years, it seems that whatever "acknowledged disadvantage" the male celebrities have, it's more than balanced out by the public vote. I will imagine, given that they're already flagging up how hard it is for the poor poor men, the public will more than meet the challenge of balancing it out in the public vote.

Seriously, is there anyone here who genuinely believes a man is going home, or is even going to be in the dance-off this week?

I think it'll be incredibly entertaining, I foresee carnage on the dance floor. I do agree that the male celebs are at a disadvantage in this dance, but the female celebs won't be all that used to following, which is also difficult enough to learn to do, even with a great partner.

I'm supporting Team Cola and really looking forward to Saturday night's show.

But they have the advantage of having just done the VW so it'll be freshest to them.

They will be at a disadvantage, but hopefully, by this point, they've got a bit of an idea about leading, and can go some way to coping with it all. If not, the female pros will be savvy enough to help them away, and I would think the male pros will be clever enough to steer their couples away from any potintial collisions that could derail them.

I am excited about it.

Agree with this. It does seem to be a strange concept to introduce a competitive group dance that is going to put the male celebs at such a disadvantage. A level playing field it certainly is not. As I said yesterday, they could still have done this group dance but it should have been choreographed. Anton, Brian and Vincent are going to be able to lead and navigate their way around the floor far better than Chris and Ricky.

It's a nice idea in theory but one that should not be marked. If they were going to judge a group dance like this then it should be a latin where the celebs break away from their partners and do a solo. Didn't they do something like that on DWTS? That way you really would see who was the best dancer and it would be fairer all round.

Yes, but as Matt Dawson pointed out, Lilia spent most of the time leading him and he had lovely ballroom. I think the lady pros will look after their boys fine.

But won't the judges spot that and mark them down accordingly? I can imagine Len though marking the boys higher if he thinks they have made a reasonable job at leading.

of all the dances they could of picked though V. Waltz is the easiest to master floor craft on there is 'usually' less bumping and barging in a V. Waltz as opposed to say a quickstep that said like others have said it does give the male professionals the advantage and one can't help thinking that this favours say Laila over Chris which would be a real shame

I think Chris will do fine, especially off the back of last weeks VW.

They didn't seem to spot it with Matt - he got very high scores for his ballroom.

Is Alesha or even Bruno and Craig equipped to judge a proper ballroom competion correctly (i.e. more than one couple on the floor at the same time) I would have thought the only one able to do this would be Len who is a genuine ballroom judge.

I'd like to know how Alesha is qualified to judge the other dances at all. It can't even be said that 'she's been through' learning either of them for a whole week with the wonderful Matthew and is therefore an expert.

Actually, she hasn't been on much at all this year has she, other than with Craig when they were still in the competition?
I seem to remember far more of James J and the Bennetts this year - not complaining.
