Scanning again in Non-Freesat Mode
Miriyo

Hi,

I haven't been able to find a definite yes/no answer for this so far on Digital Spy so am creating a new post.

I use my Freesat HDR quite often in Non-Freesat mode to watch Sky News, German TV from Astra 1 and for one or two radio stations from the UK.

I've only ever done one scan for Non-Freesat channels just after I bought this receiver because I understand that all my Freesat EPG schedules will be deleted if I do it again.

Since we have now had a software update, should I now be able to go ahead and scan again without this problem?

Thanks.

If you wish to get the new FTA HD stuff on Astra 1 you will need to input the transponder details in manually and then scan. For example Servus TV HD you need to input 10302 H DVB-S2 8PSK 22000 2/3

This is very useful to set that sort of stuff up http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-19.2E.php

Enjoy

Thanks for the information. I just did a normal scan last time (months ago) which gave me one of the ARD regional channels in HD although that seemed to be a promo. I see on that list that they have "Das Erste HD" so it'll be interesting to see whether that is a proper simulcast or not.

Shame that RTL HD, Sat1 HD and ProSieben HD aren't on offer since those are the channels I watch mainly.

Das Erste HD, ZDF HD and Eins Festival HD are currently only running promo loops. Das Erste begins broadcasting a limited HD programme over the festive season from 19 December through to 6 January. Both Das Erste and ZDF will begin regular schedule HD broadcasts from February 2010 when the Winter Olympics start.
Luxe HD, Servus HD and Anixe HD are already broadcasting regular HD programmes fta.

Can someone remind me how to do a re-tune? When I got my HDR I got a feed from 19.2 via a disecq switch so I could watch German Eurosport. I can't remember the menu/button sequence to get to the re-tune bit...must be my age!

Doubt it, more likely its because of lack of use. It was reluctance on my behalf to do a non-Freesat scan because of the loss of scheduled recordings. However that is irrelevant with the software upgrade

Assuming you wish to do a rescan of 19.2 you need to use the secret menu. Go to Setup and highlight Manual Tune, then press RED, GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE on your remote. Then select Manual Tune and then select Astra 1 19.2 as the satellite. Then scan. If you want any of the German FTA HD stuff you will need to scan the individual transponder. This requires the input of the individual parameters and you will get them.

I rescanned last night and also had to Google "Freesat secret menu" as I couldn't remember how to tune in channels from Astra 1.

As the other poster points out, Das Erste HD and ZDF HD were found no problem but are just promos at the moment until the Vancouver 2010 games (I only listened to the voiceover for a minute or so).

I've stored them anyway and removed all the extra rubbish channels that were found. Thanks to our recent update, when I returned to Freesat mode, all my schedules were as I'd left them

Quick question - since the latest firmware update can you tune in the multiscreen services associated with BBCi?

Yes you can but not with mheg5 .
You can see sky's BBC multiscreen using these setting's on non freesat mode at Astra 28.2, freq 11.953 H , 27500, 2/3, you can then choose any audio track on the 6 screens to listen to your choice of screen.

Update - since yesterday Anixe HD has moved frequency from 11303 to 10832 H 22000 2/3. The Astra Demo channel has also moved to this frequency. They had to make was for the 2nd Austrian HD channel (encoded).

Are there any continental or other Sports channels that can be added?

And on that list of Kingofsat listings, what do you actually do with them? How do you add their details to make it all work?

The procedure varies depending on which box you have.

Basically you need the following information

Transponder Frequency (MHZ) eg 10832
Polarisation (Horizontal or Vertical) H or V
Symbol Rate eg 27500
Error Correction (FEC) eg 2/3

On a hdr you select manual tune then change the transponder from all by pressing right/left till you get to the one you want to scan

Or if you want to speed things up a bit.. press ok and a drop-down will appear, either use the up down cursor button to move at increments or press the page button up or down to move through the list by page.
