Oh dear. The "Lennon/McCartney" song credit was an agreement by the two in the early sixties so they could share royalties. They only wrote a handfull of Beatles songs together, most of them early material.
If you want classics Macca wrote on his own then how about we start with "Hey Jude", "Yesterday" or ""Get Back"?
I love the internet. It's the only place you'll find the worlds most successful songwriter being called "shit" by some nomark in his living room ”

Yep the internet has a lot to answer for. People with absolutely no talent judging, those that do. Paul wrote songs like Blackbird, I Will, Here There and Everywhere, Let it Be, Helter Skelter, Oh Darling, solo. Then songs like Maybe I'm Amazed, Junk, Another Day, Here Today, Tug of War, Calico Skies, Little Willow, 222, Gratitude, Dance Till We're High, solo (I could go on and on!). A back catalogue of 47 yrs plus.
I think Lennon would have been on the X factor in a click of a finger, if it meant he could have promoted a peace/environmental campaign.

That had to have been a joke??

Paul is a living legend that deserves all the plaudits he gets, he and the other members of the Beatles were the first super-group which single handedly changed pop music for the better.

I do agree that he shouldn't do it though, that show is like fast-food, we all love it but know its crap.

i just hope it isn't true, that he would lower himself to their level just for some publicity.

The X Factor is nothing more to these artists than a marketing tool. It's the Top of the Pops of today... Let's face it, when you have an audience of close to 15 million viewers every week... You are going to take advantage of it right? That's what these stars are doing... Like they give a rats arse about the contestants and Simon Cowell.

It's all about the bottom line...... So stop whining about it... It's all alright.

If you dont think he should be doing xfactor dont bloody watch it, stop moaning.
The man is a living icon.
I have every recording and video he has be involved with, official and unofficial releases.

I'd love for Paul McCartney to do a duet with one of the finalists and sing his classic Christmas song 'Wonderful Christmas Time'. It would be great to hear him perform this and I don't think he's ever sung this live before, certainly not since it was first released in the late 70's

Mmm, I can't wait to see Paul, but I don't want him to duet with a finalist. He should go alone and wow us all.

One of the best things about X-Factor is the faux-outrage it brings out in people. Why would an artist dare appear on a show watched by millions in the run-up to Christmas????

Lala's on the money:

The irony of this is that if X-factor had been around when Paul was starting and he had gone on it, Cowell for sure would have told him to forget it and get a proper job!

As they say, respect has to be earned. When Paul McCartney was starting out, nobody could have ever predicted the Beatles would be one of the biggest selling bands of all time and McCartney himself to be one of Britain's best song writers of all time.

But I agree, say had the X Factor been around in 1961 or 1962 when the Beatles had started, Simon would have treated them as a bunch of young wannabe adults

I'll shoot myself in the eye if I see McCartney on X-Factor. Actually that will never happen because I never watch X-Factor anyway. Eye you are safe... for now!

Macca must have a new album out. After all, isn't that the only reason these big stars appear on the X Factor?!?!

Yeah, I don't really see the problem, this isn't the Beatles we're talking about. McCartney isn't exactly relevant anymore and his recent solo stuff has been quite poor so it's hard to care that much really.

I will take it you have heard all his recent albums by that statement and will have to disagree with you. He may have lost in his way in the 80's but since Flaming Pie in 97 he has been back on form with Chaos and Creation, Memory Almost Full and his recent Fireman album.
