Six months of boot camp training with the SAS before the show starts?

The BBC might agree!

and if they fail, they should be in!

It's all about ratings.

That's probably a good strategy.

After all Chris and Natalie are still absolutely fine (touch wood) while Jade has fallen and Ali and Laila have suffered.

I certainly think this years celebs were scraping the barrel, and if the show itself is to continue for much longer, the beeb need to find some real celebs who actually have personality, and are pleasant to watch.

The only 2 this year that really have anything going for them is Ricky Whittle and Jade. All the others are BORING and blah!

It's a victim of its own success.
It's now hard to compete the standards are so high. "Showbusiness" people aren't always fond of hard physical work.
Then tying yourself up for 16 or more weeks, well into the panto season and reports say they pay isn't so attractive now.
Can't see the quality of competitors improving next year. But they might alter the format in a "ratings chase."

I am starting to think that "next year" may be optimistic

It's a flat £50,000 fee isn't it? Up to four months though so you pays your money and takes your choice.

Not too shabby but I suppose some panto gigs pay even better than that.

And some real celebrities.

And some judges who can be critical without being offensive (don't Aleshabash me, they all 4 can be mean mouthed).

And some better medical care/advice so that not so many are injured.

And yea, maybe a different host, just not someone too slick.

And not take itself so flmng seriously.

And however much I moan, I will still watch!

Heres what I think next years castlist should look like-

Jane Asher- Actress (already rumoured)
Glynis Barber- Actress
Trisha Goddard- TV Presenter
Sunetra Sarker- Actress
Louise Redknapp- Singer/ TV Presenter
Sara Cox- BBC Radio 1 DJ
Sophie Dahl- Model/ Author
Anna Kournikova- Past It Tennis Player

Michael Buerk- Newsreader
Ainsley Harriott- Chef/ Legend
Jonathan Edwards- Triple Jumper
Trevor Nelson- DJ
Lawrence Dallagio- Ex-Rugby Player
Naseem Hamed- Ex-Boxer
Daniel Bedingfield- Singer
Robert Kazinsky- Actor

I think all of those (with the exception maybe of Anna Kournikova) are possible to obtain.

Ricky W has something going for him? For me he is the most boring celeb on the floor week in week out. Dullsville in both personality and entertainment value.

I think all of this is irrelevant as I think this will be the last series of SCD. This series has an air of the program having exhausted itself. Bruce Forsyth can't go on forever at his age and no other man on TV has his footwork or unique personality, Craig and Len have looked bored this year, Alesha is talking about not coming back after this year and the BEEB won't eat humble pie and bring Arlene back.

As for the celebs themselves it all went wrong once Jade got injured as none of the other couples present a threat to Ricky or Ali. The whole series has been a flop and after last year's disaster with Seargeant that is a nightmare for the BEEB. In a normal Strictly year the incident with Whittle wouldn't have got the attention it got.

I think the show's days are numbered unless the whole format is changed.

I believe Tess is contracted for another series at least - so that kind of implies that they intend to make one.
