Am and how exactly do you know that any of those things happened? Until we have, confirmed evidence, that law breaking was involved, to me it is just an unfortunate accident. It is common for people to be realesed pending further investigations and then the case is dropped completely in a few days. We don't know if he left the scene or if he refused a breath test. That is just conjecture.

Separate.

Well you are conjecturing that he wont be charged with anything, unless you are Ricky or someone close to him or the police involved you have as much idea as I do and we are both conjecturing which is allowed on an open forum.

I just don't appreciate your double standards with ref. to previous poster.”

Yes you are right i apologise for using too forceful a word.

That's OK. It is often spelt incorrectly.

And it is very rude to come on to a forum just to criticise someone's spelling? Do you have a contribution to make to the debate? What are your views on the ongoing story?

I said I didn't think he wouldn't be as long as no law breaking was involved, because, in my often unfortunate situation, have a lot of experience of it. People don't get charged for even grievously harming people. If there is compensation to be had it becomes a civil case and the insurance companies and the lawyers battle it out. Price paid by driver: high insurance premiums for life. I have little sympathy for the pap in this: It was unfortunate but he was in all likelihood standing in the way of the car and was not hurt. What does he want: a medal? More likely a story. If Ricky had been drinking or indeed was talking on five mobiles at once at the time, then that is obvious rule breaking BUT we have been given no indication that this is the case.

I have commented on at least two of the various threads devoted to this theme.
Don't you find the numerous misspellings and grammatical errors on forums irritating?

No. Because I accept that not everyone is perfect and some of the posters on here are dyslexic. I am more interested in what they say than how they spell it. I find the spelling and grammar police much more irritating!

Anyway, back to the subject in hand. Ricky Whittle...

It doesn't matter what you think. You do not know the facts, you were not there, and the police are still investigating and collecting evidence and facts from those who were there. Ricky has not been charged and to date is guilty of nothing.

Still innocent until proven guilty though.

I really would dread to have some of the fms on here doing jury duty if I was in court - I`d be hung before my case was heard

Bhoy, I refer you to these two paragraphs:

FIRST:

The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of the Council of Europe says (art. 6.2): "Everyone charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law". This convention has been adopted by treaty and is binding on all Council of Europe members. Currently (and in any foreseeable expansion of the EU) every country member of the European Union is also member to the Council of Europe, so this stands for EU members as a matter of course. Nevertheless, this assertion is iterated verbatim in Article 48 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.

SECOND:

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, article 11, states: Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public trial at which they have had all the guarantees necessary for their defence

I would also like to remind you that he hasnt been charged. Even if he had been charged, he would still have the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

So how do you like them apples?
