Well Ricky and Natalie have consistently been voted one of the least liked couples in on-line polls so it isn't really a surprise to me.
Their attitude puts me off them and he is pretty much a personality free zone - all looks and no substance. Add to that his little "problem" this week and it's no surprise.
I am just sorry that the judges get to vote on the dance off - it should be done on public votes only as the judges have already voted once.
Natalie and Vincent were always going to find it tough to stay out of the dance off tonight coming bottom of the leaderboard with only 5 couples left. I think the public are just looking for their opportunity with Ricky and Natalie.

You can 'know' what you want to know...but I think it would be silly to discount other possible factors affecting his vote negatively this week...including his relatively poor dancing.
All I can say is that the right person went tonight.....I know we`v moaned alot about Strictly this year but all things considered the final 4 is quite a decent line up.

You're assuming that the relative popularities and voting for each couple have been constant, which is unlikely.
Especially considering that voters only have 15 minutes to call in - the volatility must be much higher this year.
So we know nothing - we can make a few guesses regarding past patterns, but they give us very little chance of predicting future results.
Surely all we really know is that tonight more people voted for Laila than for Ricky?

Because it seems to me that it's not all that surprising people didn't vote for Ricky's Rock n Roll, the routine was boring and characterless compared to the Charleston, and he did it messily the first time round. That doesn't mean the public would necessarily vote for Laila's Jive in favour of Ricky's AS for example.

We also know that more people voted for Chris than Ricky - otherwise he would have been in the dance off! Likewise more people voted for Laila than Nathalie!

We 'know' nothing, of course (I try to write a catchy OP for obvious reasons - 'we have good reason to suspect' ain't much of an opener).
We do know from other shows where the voting figures are published that generally (not always) the voting paths are pretty consistent. We have no idea whether that is the same for SCD, although the demographics of the show unless we believe the 'leaks' from previous years - especially last year - which suggest the voting was pretty consistent, actually.
We also know that the place the judges have consistently put Ricky on the leader board (and Ali, other than the week she was in the dance-off) have made it difficult for him to end in the bottom two. The leaks tend to suggest Chris is getting the public vote and the fact he isn't in the dance off tends to suggest that might be right. Just my opinion of course.

I edited Jade out of my first post and put in "all things considered"....I too wish Jade was still in the competition.....As I said it`s still a decent line up...it just would have been better with Jade.
I thought it was quite telling that the bottom two were the two Rock'n'rollers. The dances seemed more boring and messier than the Charlestons. I feel that might have been a larger influence than popularity.
What also could be a factor is his recent stint in the newspapers. Maybe some people were more reluctant to vote for him.

Not following. My fault I'm sure. Tonight she was top of their leader board so they may well have kept her out of the bottom two. The week she was in the dance off they let her drop down the leader board - rightly since her Paso was a mess.

That's not necessarily true. Ricky W's and Natalie C's were the worst dances tonight although Ricky did much better in the DO. Hopefully a wake up call for him. I'm happy that the four best dancers left in the competition got through.
It's swings and roundabouts really isn't it? Laila was in the DO last week, this week she gets saved. Hard to say except I think Chris probably is the clear favourite with the public.
I think he'll make the final whether it's a 2 or 3 person one to be honest because I don't see him in a DO

It's also possible that quite a few viewers are voting on the quality of the dances (measured however they like) or even tend to agree with the judges.

I've said it elsewhere, but it would be brilliant if the BBC told us the public vote, week by week AT THE END OF THE SEASON. We can then see how votes transferred from knocked out couples, how the 15 minutes impacted the totals, how the judges scores/positions affected the votes. All that stuff that would give the stats man something to really get his teeth into.
We didn't learn that much. Laila and Chris were more popular than Ricky this week is about it. Ali could be first to last.

Instead, they must have been trying to save him from the dance-off for some mysterious reason?

Well they obviously did otherwise they wouldnt have given him a 9. Len commented why as well, Ricky had it harder than Laila because he had to lead and consider his floorcraft during the VW, all Laila (and the other girlies) had to do was follow their professionals.
Plus, Ricky's VW was better than Laila's VW when they performed them seperately in the competition, so its no suprise Ricky got a better mark.
