Laila & Antons Charleston
I'm the 1st person to admit that Anton needs to brush up on his Latin, however, I was shocked at how well Anton performed in the Charleston. He was the best of the professionals this evening.
Their Charleston was the best of the 3. They had the basic steps, co-ordination & tons of character. |

Not surprised at all, in fact I knew he would be good at it. He and Erin did a Charleston/Quickstep mix pro dance in series 5 which was outstanding.

I had a feeling the dance would suit Anton - it fits perfectly with his character.
And Laila rose to the challenge. She performed her heart out tonight. Cannot understand Craig's 6 at all. |

I too made it the best of the three...albeit there wasn't that much in it (with Ali & Brian anyway).
Chris & Ola's effort was arguably the most crowd-pleasing but least polished. Ali & Brian's was perhaps technically more impressive but not as well performed. |

Oh big props to Anton, I thought he was really, really good! Much better than I expected, but then it shouldn't be too surprising I suppose as it's more ballroom style than latin.
Laila, on the other hand, was rubbish. Craig and I seem to be the only ones who thought so, but she let him down with a laboured performance. |

Loved it - I also loved that of Chris and Ola: both imo superior to Ali and Brian.

Leila had the steps, Ali had the skill, Chris had the performance. Nobody was perfect but all of them very enjoyable. Even although it was the weakest technically of the three I enjoyed Chris and Ola the best, but I really enjoyed Leila and Anton's routine which seemed the most authentic. And also, I think that was the best I've ever seen Anton dance in all seven series!

I barely spared a glance for Leila .. I was captivated by Anton's charleston. He was just superb!
I loved watching him dance this one ... it suited him absolutely - he gave it every ounce of his snappy rhythm, flicks and kicks, head whip, cheeky, humorous personality and great body lines .... just great.

Tonight was the first time I have voted all series. I was so annoyed that the panel of 'judges' put Laila's VW only one point above Natalie Cassidy's!
As for Craig's mark and comment for the Charleston. The Charlestons were the best performances tonight and I thought that Laila and Anton had the most technique and performed it well .

I thought that they were great tonight, shame about Craig's score. But they seem to get on with it regardless. it's going to get really hard now for them, please god they will get on to the next dance without any problems. Poor Anton has been a lot quieter this series, so I'm so pleased that so many have stuck with him on his dancing skills please continue to do so.
Come on Laila and Anton 'show them what you are made of' |

Oh Laila was so cute with this dance! Her technique wasn't perfect but 6 was pushing it too far. I could understand a 7 but an 8 is what I would have given.
Really loved the whole thing! |

And Leila, although not nearly as good as him, was good too and she looked absolutely beautiful and I loved her gold dress and headpiece

So in the end, it may have been Anton's ego that got in the way. This used to be Brendan's problem, remember, but he's "grown out of it". |

Loved the storytelling in the dance, was hard pressed to choose whose I liked better out of this one and Team Cola's. By comparison wasn't keen on Ali & Brian's, well danced but didn't enjoy the floppy doll concept (agree though it was probably choreographed to emphasise upper body because of Ali's injury).

I loved it and was reallly annoyed with Craig's 6 , what was he watching , I thought it was on a par with Chris and Ola and though Ali and brian's lacked sparkle
I sat and commented to my husband that sometimes I wondered whether the judges and us actually watched the same dances when it came to marking Tonight Ricky and Natalies R and R looked laboured and off in lots of places and thought it deserved even less marks than it got ! |

Natalie and Vincent's 'rock and roll' was by far their worst dance of the series, Vincent looked like an amateur and the less said about Natalie's lumpen stomping the better. By contrast, Laila and Anton gave a charming, authentic and hugely enjoyable performance. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but you have to wonder how objective the judges are sometimes. |
