he is in one of the papers today saying how his injury from SCD leaves him in constant pain each day

I thought it was probably that he has done something to his leg as a result of his current tour, where he comes onto the stage on roller skates.

I know we had Jill Halfpenny at Blackpool, which was great to see, and Penny Lancaster,[couldnt care less about her] but it would be great to see some of the past contestants returning to reprise a dance, I'd love to see Julian's samba or quickstep again with Erin.

Wasn't the stick part of the act?
Like aging dancer walks into the studio with cane to address young dance students?

At first, I thought he'd had a stroke - he also look bloated. He's definitely not right.

I thought it was a spoof on Fame - the aging dancer inspires the fresh faced younger dancers to step up.

Ah that would explain the profuse sweating as well. Do you know why he is taking steroids?

I thought that section of the show was really bad - quite naff, in fact. In other years, they had some spectacularly good entertainment acts. This year seems lacklustre in that respect. Maybe it is part of the general decline of the whole show.

He has certainly put on weight. I saw him at the SCD tour at the O2 in February and he was in good shape then but prior to that I had seen him a bit chubby. I thought carrying the cane was an affectation.

I thought he looked really unwell, poor thing. He looked very puffy as well. Mind you no mention was made of it. Perhaps he didn't want anyone to feel sorry for him.

I was quite shocked how ill he looked. That bit of the show was painful though, fast forwarded through it in the end.

Shame to see him looking so ill. I think he's hilarious!

For his leg problem. They are used as anti-inflammatories.

He's probably only joking about suing the BBC - I would think that thay all sign something to say they take part in SCD at their own risk.

Oh I see - yes, that makes sense. His leg must be rather bad if he feels it's worth putting up with those side effects to relieve the pain!

Shame, he is very funny. I used to love Fanny the Wonder Dog

I just love the "probably". More evidence that DS forums are an irony-free zone!

Of course he's joking! He's also laughing at his own injury/illness, whichever it is. Very admirable in my book.
I'm wondering if he's bloated because he's on cortisone.

Where's drbolognaise when you need her for a consultation?

Now if he's actually got an injury/health problem then that's a shame and I wish him well. But I really thought last night the stick was part of the 'character' he was playing.

Surely if he had a long term injury from 2004 they wouldn't have let him do the tour? Also, looking at that picture, isn't that stick a teensy bit too short to be useful to a man of his height if he really needs it.
