In view of the fact that the judges marked the group VW dance tonight I'm surprised that it hasn't been subject to discussion.

My opinion - best of the night Laila and Anton, followed by Ricky W and Natalie.

But how about Mr Piano Man!

If you call me schmaltzy - then schmaltzy I am.

I completely agree with your judgement.

It was very difficult to judge as a viewer...which is why I'm not a great fan of this gimmick.

I personally thought Laila outshone everybody in the VW

I found it very difficult to compare due to the camera work.

Fred Astaire solved the problem of how to 'film' partner dancing in the 1930s.

The camera should be stationary and shoot the whole of each couple they follow from head to toe.

The BBC directors think they know better.

The USA directors seem to have more sense!

I know it's a little late to edit my opening post - but the music - Mr. Piano Man brings out all the bathos and sentimentality in my psyche.

At heart - I'm just a dreamy eyed, idealistic softie.

All Piano Man did was remind me how good the Ramps VW was back in series 4...

It's the song I played for my Keyboard Grade 2 exam when I was 10!

Billy Joel isn't it?

Or is it Billy Idol?

I always get them muddled up.

Have to agree.

Ricky did brilliantly though.

I accidentally read that as your keyboard grade 10 when you were 2. I was very nearly very impressed.

Zan, I'm a man of many talents.

But keyboard playing wasn't one of them!

Still, grade 2 is much further than I got with the clarinet!

Billy Joel - great song to smooch along to.

Oh I gave up on the clarinet as well.

My blowing technique was rubbish. It took me 3 weeks for my instrument to make a noise.

Is that an offer?

I agree. As a competitive dance, it was pointless from a viewer's perspective. It didn't add to my enjoyment of the evening, in fact it annoyed me..I just had to take Len's word for who performed best.
I like having something to argue about.

"Full" is a bit of an exaggeration, Sidney.
