Tut tut Sid, dragging another thread into the gutter

All I can remember about the VW is that at the end it looked like Anton crashed into one couple, then veered away across the floor to crash into another couple (either Ali & Brian or Ricky & Natalie). Did that actually happen??

Ali and Brian nearly crashed into Anton and Laila but Anton put on the brakes to avoid it. Ali and Brian carried on on their path and then bumped into Ricky and Natalie who came off the worse, losing hold for a split second.

"Full" is a bit of an exaggeration, Sidney.

Yes, that's the way I saw it too.

I prefer seeing the rehearsed choreographed group VW that they used to do.
Seeing the overhead of them banging into each other just looked a mess.

It looked a right mess at the end!

I thought it was Ali and Brian who messed it up but then Ricky apologised to Brian in Tess's area, so he obviously thought he had gone wrong. And a friend said she thought it was Anton. So now i dont know!
Wonder if Karen will mention it on ITT?

I like the way DWTS did the marked group dance - eliminating a couple at a time until just one was left. It was clear who finished where.

Ive just rewatched it and at the end, Ali and Brian cut right across the middle of the floor just as Anton and Laila were coming down it and bumped into them and then Ali and Brian waltzed straight into Ricky and Natalie who had done a circle of the floor and Ricky had his back to them so couldnt see them in time.

Im not bashing, but looking at it, it was Brian's fault.

I think it was Ali & Brian who caused the bumping they moved into the centre at the same time as Laila & Anton and in getting away from them danced right in the path of Ricky and Natalie.

I though Ricky & Natalie were the best and Natalie & Vincent were the worst, but I thought they were all good.

1. Ricky & Natalie
2. Ali & Brian
3. Laila & Anton
4. Chris & Ola
5. Natalie & Vincent

I agree. As a competitive dance, it was pointless from a viewer's perspective. It didn't add to my enjoyment of the evening, in fact it annoyed me..I just had to take Len's word for who performed best.
I like having something to argue about.
Being a bear of little brain it takes all my concentration to watch one couple dance, let alone five, and the camerawork made it impossible to see what was going on. I hadn't realised until afterwards that the judges were going to focus on specific couples - I don't think that was mentioned beforehand. Overall I found it irritating and frustrating. I hope they won't do this again for other dances - a competitive tango or somesuch.

You need to stay in more and watch ITT. Flavia and Len both explained last week that this is how real dance competitions are judged. In the end it wasn't the same, because how each judge marked should be transparent, so we just got the usual Strictly attitude there then.

What really spoiled the VW as a competitive TV dance was the poor camera work. They really should have allowed more time for the dance, say 2½ min, and followed each couple in turn for 20 sec with a full-length camera shot. I don't think anyone on this thread could say hand on heart that we have the ranking sussed.

Karen just been on BBC Breakfast. She cricised the 10 for Ali and Brian in the VW saying they bumped into two couples which is a no no in competition ballroom and that Brian should have been able to avoid it.

I still can't believe Ali got a 10 on group vw when she and Brian bump into couples on two different occasions

The judges were always going to give Ali a 10. I thought she looked a tad uncomfortable.

I also thought Chris looked better than Natalie and I like both.

I would have given both Laila and Ricky a 9, Ali an 8, Chris a 7 and Natalie a 6.

However, the VW made no difference anyway. Yes, it put Ricky ahead of Laila but he was still in the DO.

I couldn't believe Ali got a 10 after the collisions and her arm shaking the whole way through. Thought Laila seemed to be penalised for having Anton as a partner, the judges seemed to say "you were good, but why wouldn't you be with Anton".

I would have scored it
Laila - 9
Ricky - 8
Ali - 8
Chris - 8
Natalie - 7
