''KERRY McFadden may not be honoured with a statue in her home town - after residents said they would prefer a bust of George Formby.
The ex-Atomic Kitten became Warrington's most famous daughter after winning the ITV1 show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here.
Town councillors considered erecting a bronze statue of her on the Wilderspool roundabout to replace that of rugby league legend Brian Bevan, which was transferred to outside Warrington Wolves' new stadium.
But citizens are vehemently against the idea. Instead, many want to immortalise the legendary comic actor George Formby - born in Wigan but buried in War ri n gton cemetery alongside his father. A council source revealed: "Most of the councillors thought Kerry would be the ideal choice.
"She's done more to put the town on the map in the past 12 months than anyone and we thought the people of Warrington would be happy to honour her.
"But the plan has caused an absolute furore in the town. It seems nobody thought Kerry would be remembered next year, let alone go down in history.
"But the feedback we have heard is in favour of George Formby." ......'
