Does it really matter if the judges have a favourite?

That's why they have a phone vote surely.
Getting a bit sick of people saying that Ali and Brian are judges favourites in a negative way. If they're not your favourites, don't vote for them. If the judges didn't like your favourites, vote for them. Thought it was that simple.
Ali and Brian were amazing last night and I personally thought they were the best. They are MY favourites so I voted for them. It is a tv show after all...

Someone else said it on another thread (probably better than I will) that perhaps this wouldn't be the case if they explained a little more why they were better.
Simply saying 'it was lovely' 'you looked beautiful' 'what a routine' is all well good but that's my marking criteria and I know absolutely less than zero about dancing.
So if it is more technical say so or people are apt to think that their favourites routine is being harshly marked.

that's a really good point to be honest. I just couldn't get my head around why people were being so negative, that does make sense. their biggest criticism has been performance with Ali but i think she showed last night that she can do it so hopefully people will warm to her now

I hope so too

I don't get how high marks are now seen as favouritism rather than the dancer being deserving of them compared to the other dances on the night. Not just Ali, but other dancers that have been called favourites because of their high marks!

It's human nature to have favourites, what judges should not do is make it obvious, by comment or by marking.
