Freeview channels via Freesat?

I have bought new kit and am waiting for installation of the satellite dish.

I'm confused (easily done, but I am getting conflicting information) and have three questions.

1 Will I be able to watch freeview channels not available on Freesat e.g. Virgin1 via my new set up? The new kit includes a Humax PVR and a Samsung 1080 TV (and dish of course).

2 Will I able to watch the BBC Red Button channel (301) using my new kit?

3 If either or both of the above is not possible can I use my existing freeview cable through the Humax or direct into the TV to access these channels?

If I can do both 1 and 2 with the new kit then I assume I can remove the existing Freeview aerial which is a danger to aircraft

You cannot watch any Freeview channels on satellite kit. Virgin 1 is a pay channel on satellite & not available to Free to air sat receivers.

You will have a better selection of BBC interactive channels via satellite than via Freeview.

Thanks,

Rats!

Do you know if there are any free to air channels which could be manually tuned in (something I've read about but have no knowledge of) e.g. I will be sad to lose access to the Yesterday channel if that's not available either.

Good to know that there is better access to interactive BBC channels

There are hundreds

Note a lot of these will already be on the Freesat epg.

Yesterday is only available on a sky box with a subscription package

Presumably your Samsung TV has inbuilt Freeview? So you will have best of both worlds, Freesat & Freeview.
