My complaints about last night

After watching last nights programme i just thought i'd air my grievances. Note:The right person went.

In my opinion Ali was massively overmarked for her performance. It was awkward looking at times and in my opinion Laila and Chris were miles better. Chris's performance won the night and maybe even the series but somehow manages to be only 2nd on the leaderboard. Ali is clearly the judges favourite and in one of her worst performances gets one of her best scores.

Ali also got to wear flat shoes during her dance but Laila wore high heels. Why was this allowed for her but not for Laila? She also wore no bandage therefore weakening her ankle as a bandage would have kept it more protected for being made worse. Maybe it wasnt a bad as first made out.

Ricky Whittle was undermarked. Yes he made mistakes but due to what happened to him 24 hrs previously he hadnt had the chance to rehearse so looked rough around the edges. Ali missed 3 days traing or so we were led to believe but as her perfomance was just as bad, why did she get so many more marks. I know her injury wasnt her fault but Ricky's problem was all his own doing but he is innocent until proven guilty in my eyes and so i thought in everyone elses's. They clearly allowed her dispensation but not Ricky. Why? Because the judges are favouring Ali thats why. As is obvious from last night. It appeared in the beginning that it was Ricky they were favouring but not now. Bruce made a comment about Ricky's lack of rehearsal and although i dont think he meant it in the way it came out, it seems they are making a mockery of the situation.

I dont hate Ali. I hate Brian. He is so smug and when Ali gets good marks his face couldnt be more smug if he tried or when a contestant gets better marks than her, he is so graceless in defeat unlike her who always claps when the marks are better than theirs. He also nearly makes Ali bump into Ricky and Natalie during the VW but they dont mark them down for this but somwhow the judges mark Ricky down even though it was all Brian's fault. I dont want Ali to win because of him. If she had another partner then maybe i wouldnt mind but i hate Brian so therefore i dont want her to win.

The only thing that made me smile was her name being called out first meant she didnt top the phone vote. As everyone knows if your name is called out first then you havent won the public vote that night. Its the same for the X Factor or Im A Celeb. So therefore as much as it appears the judges and BBC are trying to fix it for her the public dont agree.

The judges got what they wanted with Ricky in the bottom 2and now he cant win. They have made it a one horse race and it will now become a very boring competion as its obvious who will win.

My last point is that Rock N Roll clearly didnt work as both couples were in the bottom 2.

You've made some very bizzare observations here.

I must be living in another world if 'everyone' knows that if you're name is called first you didn't top the phone vote. Have you evidence of this?

1) Aren't charlestons normally danced in flat/low heeled shoes? I was under the impression they were.

2) Ali did have bandaging on - under her tights. You could see it briefly - possibly after the Viennese Waltz (where she did wear heels) - I can't remember exaclty.

3) Does everyone know that? I certainly didn't know that hearing your name first meant you definitely not top of the vote.

4) Ricky certainly can still win after a dance off - Alesha did.

5) I don't agree that Ali was overmarked - and I certainly don't agree that Laila and Chris' charlestons were better. I do think they were all excellent, though, and I do agree that the Rock 'n' Roll didn't work (though Ricky's dance off performance was very good indeed).

I suspect we have a Laila and Anton fan here!!!

I don't understand the mentality of people who rip apart the performances or character of others! We all have our favourites, can't we just agree to disagree? Afterall, it's meant to be an entertainment show! Just enjoy the ride and vote for your favourites!!

I think Chris's position on the leaderboard should be celebrated, he did really well. Ali's Charleston was slightly overmarked but her technique in the charleston was slightly better than Chris's. Eg: her Charleston basic steps had more hip action and swivel.

If Laila required a bandage Im pretty darn sure she would have worn one. Plus, she didnt look like she needed one either last week or this week. She looks recovered to me, whereas Ali is still recovering.

Also, note that Natalie wore flat shoes in her RnR.

A massive contradiction there. Ricky's incident was not his 'own doing'. (Im a Ricky fan before you ask but Im also an Ali fan and I like to be fair). Ricky's initial performance was not as good as Ali's although I do feel he was marginally undermarked.

Quote:

I think if the judges allowed Ricky a dispensation for missing rehearsals due to being locked up, this forum would be an even uglier place as it normally is! Ricky has given a reason why his initial performance wasnt up to his normal standard in his blog, he was told to tone it down by the 'experts'.

Quote:
“It appeared in the beginning that it was Ricky they were favouring but not now. Bruce made a comment about Ricky's lack of rehearsal and although i dont think he meant it in the way it came out, it seems they are making a mockery of the situation.”

The series has been littered with pointed remarks about all the contestants - Ali and Brian's romance, Alesha's drunken escapades, Anton's idiotic remarks. Bruce's comments are often uncalled for and Im suprised the BBC allow him (and Tess) to do it, it makes uncomforable viewing.

Quote:
“I dont hate Ali. I hate Brian. He is so smug and when Ali gets good marks his face couldnt be more smug if he tried or when a contestant gets better marks than her, he is so graceless in defeat unlike her who always claps when the marks are better than theirs.”

Hate is a strong word. Brian seems quite nice and genuine to me. When Ricky was in the dance off, you could see Brian give him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. I thought that was nice.

Quote:
“He also nearly makes Ali bump into Ricky and Natalie during the VW but they dont mark them down for this but somwhow the judges mark Ricky down even though it was all Brian's fault.”

Ricky got a 9 but I dont think it was due to the bumping incident, as Len commented on his excellent floorcraft. I got the impression the judges were marking the celebs on their VW technique and Ali was certainly very good last night, but I think she deserved a 9.

Quote:
“I dont want Ali to win because of him. If she had another partner then maybe i wouldnt mind but i hate Brian so therefore i dont want her to win.”

This paragraphs highlights what saddens me about the forum sometimes. A lot of people have commented on how they dont like Ricky because of Natalie and its such a shame that people who are good dancers are losing votes because people dont like the pro they are dancing with. It doesnt seem very nice to me (as someone called me a few days ago, Im a regular Pollyanna ). For instance, I dont like Anton because of the racism row but if Laila was an outstanding dancer and the best dancer, I would still root for her because like some people, Im a Dance Purist. I understand how others arent though.

That is complete conjecture and presumption and has no basis in fact whatsoever. You've posted a reasonably contraversial thread on here and people dont take to the kind of posts that put forth opinions as 'facts'.

Not if the WWW's have anything to do with it. He may not be popular on here but with a decent dance behind him next week, there is no reason why he cant get further in the competition. One Dance Off does not a Loser Make.

Agree 100%

I hope you dont mind my long reply but I found this post interesting and wanted to comment.

No im not Laila and Anton fan. im a Ricky/Chris fan.

Laila wore a bandage and high heels in the week of her sprained ankle but Ali wore flats even with her sore ankle. I didnt see a bandage to note if she had protection. Laila had a high heel on for her Charlston and so did Ola but not Ali. Why? She was given dispensation but not Laila is my point.

I know he can win after being in the dance off but the judges clearly dont want him to and it is now a one horse race.

Hate is a strong word and i probably didnt mean that word but i do have a strong dislike of him.

So what part of the conspiracy features Natalie C who wore flats too, despite not being injured?

I actually think that the voting is very fluid at the moment and that is on the evidence of the past 2 weeks. Natalie was 2nd bottom last week but not in the dance off. So was at least more poplular than Laila. Laila was 2nd bottom this week and was more popular than Ricky.

This is fact or in these 2 cases they would have been in the dance off for the respective weeks. Anything else is pure guesswork except that at the moment the GBP are been very fickle in their votes for Laila and Natalie.

Therefore Ricky is not out of it at the moment as his popularity may change.

My actual guesswork on the votes is that when a person leaves their vote is more likely to move en mass to another person similar to the person they liked in the first place.

I think last night's dance put Ricky at a disadvantage and the fact that he didn't dance it very well didn't help. Any neutrals voting on the night would have gone for one of the Charlestons as they were more entertaining.

The reason why Ricky was in the bottom two is because the public did not vote for him. The reason why the Rock n Roll wasn't marked as high at The Charleston is quite simple, there was probably no conspiracy - the simple fact is the the couples who danced The Charleston performed better than Ricky Whittle and Natalie Cassidy. They both deserved to be in the dance off because their performances were not up to par. Simples.

how can you hate someone you've never met? That is an extremely strong word to use. Dislike may be, but hate?!

How do you know that Laila didn't choose to wear high heels? You're blaiming Ali for something when you don't know the circumstances. How ridiculous!

You've got the over marking backward. Ricky is consistently over marked. He has made glaring mistakes every week, but still gets 9s and 10s.

A lot of your 'observations' sound like sour grapes without any actual substantial proof, just because you 'hate' brian.

I disagree with some of your observations, but mainly this one:

Ricky was not undermarked he made loads of mistakes at the beginning of the routine and was out of time for a good portion of it too.

OP why do you hate someone you've never met and who has never tried to harm you in any way?

With comments like that you make yourself sound like such a nasty piece of work that people might well hate you - but only if they think the way you do of course.

You have anger in your soul; try and get rid of it.

This is nonsense. Chris & Ola's name was called out first recently, and nobody in their right mind would claim they're not topping the public vote...

Ali had bandages on and if you look at her when she and Brian walk to the step, after the judges ,and into Tess room , her walk is flat , heavy and very carefull
As a nurse seeing pain most of my life and dealing with it , I saw pain in her gait . She was protecting and guarding .

In My opinion Ali was gutsy and got out there and made no fuss and got on with it ,
Good on you Ali and well done for a fabulous dance
