Audio via optical

I've a Harman/Kardon amp and I'm having problems with the audio when switching from BBC HD to any other channel.

When switching from any channel to BBC HD the amp recognises the Dolby Digital signal and switches into the correct mode. When switching from BBC HD to any other channel (which doesn't use Dolby Digital) the amp stays in Dolby Digital mode and is silent. I have to get the amp's remote and switch it to stereo to hear anything.

My old Sky box never had this problem and I've various other bits of kit that don't either.

Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know if I can do anything to get the amp to switch automatically back to stereo when there is no DD signal?

No, my surround system switches perfectly between 2.0 and 5.1.

Think its a problem with your amp, mine switches perfectly althought its a Yamaha. You dont need the optical if youre using HDMI I beleive. That all I use and it works great
