It was bugging me trying to think who Chris reminded me of and another poster was spot on . NORMAN WISDOM. Particularly when he stamps his little feet trying to do any dramatic dancing. I'm surprised Claudia's show hasnt done a little film to that effect. Its ripe for a funny montage.

He looks more like a little baby having a temper tantrum when performing the Paso doble.

I think all these anti-Chris threads are scraping the barrel now! Carry on though if it makes you feel better.

Norman Wisdom would beat Ricky Whittle in ANY public vote, in any country in the world.

DEAL WITH IT!

Some of Team Cola's fans have been attacking every other dancer since day one - some of them were downright vicious! Why should Chris be immune or exempt from criticism? It was inevitable when more dancers get knocked out, the weakest dancer left would come in for more criticism. The Yeah Baby/Team Cola gimmick has run it's course. He had a couple of good ballrooms but his latins are verging on embarassing. He simply doesn't have the talent to win.

Ive not seen any nastiness from Chris and Ola fans at all. So I have no idea where you've got that from? Yes, there have been some nasty threads, mainly about Natalie I have to say. But how do you know they were from Cola supporters from day one? Thats impossible to know for sure.

Fortunatly you dont have the deciding vote though and many people still enjoy their partnership.

Its a TV reality show not the world championships.

If given a choice between seeing Ricky Whittle dance, and seeing Norman Wisdom do a dance, I think you'll find that most people would choose the latter.

He's more Frank Spencer than Norman Wisdom.

I couldn't figure out if this was a compliment or a put down!

Either way, I am a big fan of the way Chris dances. He and Ola's routines are colourful and extremely entertaining.

That's what dancing is all about, surely?

I suppose it would be too much to ask that we all just enjoy this for what it is - a light entertainment show - and appreciate the good job that all the celebs (and pros) are doing in giving us some fantastic entertainment every Saturday.

I suppose it would also be too much to ask that we don't resort to what is little more than playground behaviour ('well, the other group were mean about us so we're going to be mean about someone else'. Honestly, how old are we? 10?)

Two wrongs do not make a right.

This thread (and numerous others like it - not only about Chris and Ola but all the other people performing in SCD, including Brucie, Tess and the judges) is why I have barely contributed to the boards this year. I used to love coming on here and joining in. This year - not so much.

In fact, not at all.

Oh, so it's THAT time of year again, is it? When we're getting towards the sharp end and everyone starts to get concerned about who will win?

Everyone gets their own little hate or disparaging threads this time of year, particularly the public favourite as they seem to be more of a threat.

It's not necessarily fans of another couple and I think it's a little childish to suggest so. It's generally people who, for whatever reason, don't want a certain couple to win, suddenly think they might and find that airing their grievances makes them feel better about the prospect.

They can like a couple well enough up to the point where they spoil what they want or believe should be the result. Then the knives come out...

Two examples is not enough to back up your argument - particularly as one of those is actually from somebody who supports Ali as much as Chris. You also said that some of Team Cola's supporters had been attacking 'every other dancer since day one' - not just two people being sarcy about one contestant. Exaggerate, much? Doesn't do much for the case you are trying to make.

I don't support the immature hostility displayed towards Natalie from anybody - but just because she was a target doesn't mean that Chris should be subject to the same childishness.

Cally's mum, the forums haven't been quite the same without you.

I admit I've not read through the entire threads in detail, but I really can't see a post that starts off with 'I'm a Cola fan so I'm going to have a go at X/Y/Z'.

Assumption is the mother of making yourself look very stupid and bitchy indeed.

Hi Sid

As you know I'm not a Chris fan but when I read the thread title I thought it was a complement and that the thread was going to be by one of his supporters.

Chris is obviously no Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly. He is the 'comedy' celeb (and I mean that in a good way). I have lost count of the number of posts that say his charleston made them laugh. He is funny!

His supporters know he is not the best of dancers but like him because he is entertaining and fun to watch.

I am not sure how saying he is Norman Wisdom-like is an insult

All factions have their bitchiness towards other dancers and supporters. You asked for evidence, I provided it. If you want every post, then I suggest you try google or the DS search engine. The nastiness from Team Cola supporters exists, just as it exists in all the other fan groupings.

You didn't provide sufficient evidence that backed up the assertion you made that 'some of Team Cola's supporters have been attacking every other dancer since day one' ... your words, not mine.

The onus is not on me to do that - it's on you, if you want your argument to be taken seriously.

If you are just upset that two posters who support Chris and Ola (and, in one case, Ali and Brian also) said something you didn't like about your own favourite, I understand that you might be p*ssed off. However, making sweeping generalisations which you can't back up doesn't really help anyone and just generates more bad feeling ... where is the sense in that?

I support Team Cola, and have done since day one.

I think Chris would be flattered to be compared with much loved comedy greats....knowing and understanding about great entertainment. His solo kicks in the quick step reminded me of another much loved great...

I hope I haven't been nasty or vicious about any of the dancers/celebs. I have always supported Cola and will continue to do so.

I think this thread is a waste of time!

If people have got something nasty/negative to say then there should be the opposite of the Appreciation Threads - if you see what I mean!

Agree its not quite right as I don't think the look is intentional or avoidable - they are just running with it. Norman Wisdom played and rehearsed a character. Frank Spencer is a character. Both inhabit a plot. Chris just pulls funny faces that don't fit any plot - the Charleston was schoolboy in a speakeasy dancing with someone who looked like they should be there. Just William in Godfather 4. It looked like Benny Hill at times too or Carry On Dancing . That all might go down very well if the SCD audience is as old as I think it is.

You might deserve to do well with that if you could do the dance moves, as the great comics could, but there's a difference substituting one for the other and in any case what you do has to make some sense. Its also basically an unfair playing field. Ricky Grove paired with Ola guiding him to do that could probably act that better but he's not naturally boyish and would look silly, Nat could have done that routine with those faces or even better ones and got no reward as funny females usually just don't. You would hate to see what would be said about Ali or Ricky if they went out there and played a cute nerd in a speakeasy. Ricky can't do cute and in need of mothering. Ola's done a great job but she's essentially turned weaknesses into cute and a laugh.

Chris is a bit drippy and wet. Not sure why anyone rates him.
