Considering last year's semi-final had Tom Chambers having the highest public vote, the more power to people who can actually spot a decent dancer, the better.

I voted for Rachel that night - after Austin's departure I decided to vote solely on the dancing - but without knowing the final scores. (I had to put the kids to bed straight after the final dance.)

When I got back and found out that Tom was doomed, I imposed a further 30p "stupidity tax" on myself and voted for the other pair as well to even things up, suspecting some kind of panic in the BBC bunker.

45p in total seemed a small price to pay to ensure a level playing field!
