Sky Teletext is tonight reporting that Alesha Dixon will sign for the 2010 series as a judge. The BBC is quoted as saying that she has done a "first-class job" and is welcome to come back.

Noooooooo - I can't stand her, sorry. Loved her as a dancer, don't think she should be there as a judge. I don't pay any heed to what she says, her opinions don't even count as far as I'm concerned. Hope she changes her mind and moves onward and upward away from Strictly.

While I don't actually care who does the judging - it's not a real dancing competition - I really don't think this is a good idea...

Sigh.

I hope she isn't a judge next year.

I hope Alesha does do the next series, but I also hope they bring in either Karen Hardy or Shirley Ballas to make a 5 judge panel.

Mind you the judges don't usually get contracts until about the middle of the year, so it all sounds a bit premature to me.

I guess this will be this week's 'I can't stand Alesha' thread.

Bad and stubborn decision in my opinion.

If Alesha does judge again I think I'll make sure I have something better to do on a Saturday night.

I doubt the BBC will make any decisions until after the final and they have a chance to review all the viewing figures, press etc. Most likely this wont even get reviewed until planning starts - i'd guess somewhere in the spring.
Be interesting to see what happens.

Excellent news!

The sound of popping blood vessels up and down the country is music to my ears.

Hey - I'm not trying to impose my views on anyone else.

I just don't think I could endure her for another season - but only time will tell if I can go cold turkey when it comes to my SCD addiction.

Just a thought - upon what does the beeb base their conclusion of a job well done: do they actually listen to the viewers, many of whom have made their assessment of Ms.Dixon very clear and not very complimentary.

Hope this is true Vincy I to would love to see Alesha back on the judging panel together with Karen Hardy and lose Len.

Even better I'd love to see Alesha do the tour maybe in 2011.

It seems they ARE listening to the viewers. 8.5 million (on average) view the show every Saturday and only a handful throw a strop on message boards about her being there. However, the same handful CONTINUE to watch the show so the BBC are seeing no change in their viewing statistics. And the press coverage (albeit not very nice towards Alesha) is doing wonders for the show, it's like on-tap promotion.

Want them to listen? I think it'd take more than a few hundred complaints for them to drop her. I know the producers are very happy to have her there

What you must remember is that the proverbial "handful" of internet forum members are a drop in the ocean compared to the overall viewing public.

I know alot of people who do not go on the forums and none of them rate Alesha as a judge. In fact I have yet to meet anyone who thinks she is any good.

You might know a lot of people but you surely don't know 8.5million.

So 8.5 million people like her then and it is just my select group of friends that don't.

I fully understand that - just as I'm sure you in turn realise Alesha supporters on this forum are also a drop in the ocean compared to the overall viewing public.

I'd imagine a good proportion of the 8.5 million just don't care either way, to be fair.

The viewing figures are down though. I quickly looked at the last five weeks on BARB compared to the equivalent weeks from last year, and they are down by an average of half a million per week. I am not saying that is all down to Alesha. There have been a number of issues this year, and because of that I think the producers should not make any decisions about next year until this series is finished and they can analyse it properly.

What you must remember is that the proverbial "handful" of internet forum members are a drop in the ocean compared to the overall viewing public.
The proverbial "handful" of internet forum members supporting Alesha are also a drop in the ocean compared to the overall viewing public. Just because the majority of people don't post about Alesha in a forum, it does not mean that they think she should be on the panel. Just like hansue, most of the people I know who watch the show do not post on forums, but they generally do not like Alesha as a judge.
