Why in the last 24 hours has there been a surge in anti Chris feeling ?

- dances like Norman Wisdom
- a farce if he wins
- short men like Chris don't look elegant dancing
- Chris mugging to camera

I readily acknowledge he isn't the most accomplished dancer in the competition (I started the thread about the dance competiton - agree with most of you by the way).

But whats not to like about him ? He's funny, charming, his partnership with Ola has brought out a lovely side of her. Their Charleston on Saturday was a joy to watch, absolutely hilarious and out the biggest smile on my face this entire series ?

Don't tell me the competition are feeling slightly threatened by his chances are they!!!!

Game on!

I still don't understand how comparing him to Norman Wisdom is an insult

There is plenty of vitriol going around for all of those remaining. Unfortunately.

It's at this stage of the competition that I don't like the forum. Rather than saying positive things about who they support, people make negative comments about the others.

It's because Natalie Cassidy has left, and he's the next in line for slagging off. It get's tiresome doesn't it ?

No idea...it could be tedious Colans thinking they're whipping up extra support for their boy and girl for all I know...given how easy it seems to be to manipulate some viewers.

I don't just take 'opinions' at face value here.

Well, if Chris goes this week then it's Laila's turn. I think I could join in with that quite heartily.

Only tricky bit will be deciding whose side to be on in the vicious Ali vs Ricky pre-final slanging match

I hadn't actually thought about who I would support in a Ricky v Ali final... some serious scratching of head required.

Will get back to you on that one!

Given that scenario I guess I'll put my less than influential persuasion behind Ricky.

However if by chance either Laila or Chris figure in the final - sod the expense - I'll vote for whichever of them makes it.

Exactly. A comedy genius

Chris is not my fav but I do think he is entertaining. No one (even his staunchest fans) can say he is a great dancer but he is fun and he makes us laugh. And that is no bad thing

Nowt wrong with being a dance purist, some of us can appreciate how entertaining Chris is, despite wanting one of the better dancers to win. Dont tar us all with the same brush please, we dont all start nasty threads on here.

Indeed.

I am not sure what a 'dance purist' means though I have a feeling it is being used as an insult in this thread, which is ironic as it is a thread about insulting a celeb

If by 'dance purist' they mean someone who values dance technique and ability then I must be one

I think dance purist is a misleading term. It can be confused with dance fan or even dance expert. I'm a dance fan whose interest goes beyond SCD. In fact I've previously said that, in my view, the judging panel is too light on ballroom and latin expertise. However I'm still happy for Chris and Ola to win since I acknowledge that other elements come into play. I notice that there other posters, who are keen attendees of dance competitions, who also support them.

I know doc - and I hope you've noted that I've defended your favourite Ricky W against the knockers and those who would hang, draw and quarter him before trial: but you must forgive my wry smile at the purists who are choking on their g&t's at the possibility that either of those 'bloody upstarts' Chris and Laila might upset the apple cart.

Guess it's a bit like those apples sold in the supermarket - all the same size and shape; then along comes a rogue fruit - too big or too small and perhaps misshapen, but even sweeter and all of a sudden we're seduced.

Do you want a round of applause...or a cookie?

Lol, no I appreciate that you defended Ricky W although I more appreciate the fact you have good sense and strong moral values to know someone is innocent until convinction.

I dont think there is anyone, dance purist or not, who hadnt cottoned on weeks ago that Chris has a good chance of winning the glitterball. If people are suprised now and annoyed, well they are a bit silly!
