Just seen her on BBC News promoting the "Sing" campaign, to do with HIV awareness. One of the greatest humanitarians in the world in my opinion and what a role model. Surely young girls should aspire to be more like Annie and less like Britney!

lol... as if that will happen. like her counterparts (siouxsie, kate bush, alison moyet...) these artists didnt need to take their clothes off in order to sell records, their natural talent and creativity carried them through. unfortunately in this day and age todays 'stars' will do anything to prop up their weak material.

I find Leona inspirational too. Not sure why you consider it necessary to depreciate other singers to underscore your admiration for Annie Lennox, especially since both Leona and Alexandra are relative newcomers.

Indeed she is and you don't need to take my word for it. She won the Nobel Laureates prize last month:

Miranda Sawyer finds her irritating though

Maybe Miranda’s just jealous?

Because these people are after fame nothing else. Do they care if they write meaningful songs? no they'd happily rip off someone else's work. They don't even deserve to be compared to Ms Lennox, Bush and other females of that ilk. I'm sorry but seeing Leona Lewis cavorting provocatively in her underwear isn't presenting females in a positive light! Whilst Ms Burke wants a Bad Boy to nail her, that's really setting a good example! Unfortunately their are very few artists who are individual and don't rely on nudity to sell records.

Is that your best response? An insult in return for a perfectly constructed point that I made. Well I think your the one in cloud-cukoo-land if you think Ms Lewis and Burke are on the same level as Lennox!

You did not proffer a perfectly constructed point; you manufactured some fantasy about Leona cavorting around in her underwear in order to promote herself (the very opposite of reality, hence the allusion to Cloud-cuckoo-land).

Didn't she do that in her first ever video for Bleeding Blood Love? No? You must have seen a different video to moi!

No, she did not. The BL video is about as provocative as many of the things Annie has done. You stand corrected. Glad we cleared that up.

I don't need to be stood corrected because if you don't call gyrating like a whore in your under ware provocative I hate to think what goes on in that mind of yours.

You want to find some evidence of Annie Lennox gyrating like a whore? Because I can't seem to find any!

With that I'm sure you'll find yourself stood corrected!

P.S One is manufactured and made it big via Reality TV. The other relied on coming through the proper way, writing songs, playing instruments. I think we can conclude who the more talented and classier person is out of the two!

you are spot on.

it grieves me the way modern female 'stars' (post spice girls ) use sex to sell, after my generation, the punk generation, rejected the old 70's cliche that women are sex objects. punk through music and comedy (alternative comedy) gave all a fair hearing, a fair chance in a largely male dominated industry. its no co incidence that the punk era spawned so many of our top female musicians, lennox, bush, sioux, moyet, hell even the bananabints! great individual, iconic, creative, unique artistes whos talent totally eclipses anything out of a reality show.

She is great. But i don't know if i like her. I like her songs and everything she stands for- but sometimes i think she gets a little too into it.

Not that im saying thats a bad thing, but practically every one-off performance she does is sung with a particular message. Like i said, not that im saying thats bad but it does kinda grate on me sometimes.

I like the Eurythmics and some of her early solo singles but I don't care for her as a live performer too much. She tends to get into the vocal gymnastics a bit too much live.
