Count me in Footygirl, I can't bear the thought of a two person final.

Me too - I hate 2 couple finals, they seem to me to be more about endurance than dance
Cos of Jade's departure they have had to make it into a 2 couple final - the only way they could make it into a 3 couple final would be to defer the vote off for one week. Has that ever happened on Strictly

No, it hasn't happened before, but they could have done so when Jade had to withdraw, or they could have reinstated a previously eliminated couple. The following is taken from the BBC website:

In the event of any contestant leaving the competition at any point prior to the quarter finals, the BBC will decide on whether to reinstate previous contestants i.e. the person with the highest score eliminated from the previous episode or equivalent, or to take other actions in accordance with the BBC's contingency plans as it deems necessary and appropriate to the circumstances.

It beggars belief that they didn't do anything to resolve the situation before now. Personally, I find a 3 couple final far more entertaining.

yes I do too - I suppose they don't want to bring it forward a week as it would clash with the X Factor finals and the ratings would tumble. I personally think they should have taken action much sooner by not having anyone going out the week that Jade had to withdraw so Jade would be eliminated by default that week. They could have opened the vote as they normally do and then added that week's viewer votes to the following weeks. I can't see the problem with that.

Sign me up for both too please - I would much prefer to have a 3-couple final and since my favourite is one of the weaker dancers, I don't want to see any changes to the scoring either!

Yup add my name to the list. I don't think a two person final will be fair. What's the new scoring system, footygirl? I can't imagine it's anything good!

Count me in but I feel like I'm in Groundhog Day...it's been the same threads and arguments now for two years when I think we can all happily accept the old first past the post majority vote system. I can't understand the control freakery on this side when Cowell can give the vote to the public. They're not even dancing for a professional contract for God's sake.
I agree completely and add my name in

Definitely in favour of a 3-person final please, but don't know anything about different scoring to comment on that.

No one should have been eliminated the week Jade had to leave...

I'll vote for a 3 couple final - and no messing about with the scoring.

3 couples make for a MUCH more interesting final IMHO - two couples have just too much to do to fill the time slot

A final with three in it means they are not struggling to fill the time. What you don't do is cut anyone before the final result. This year it will keep the people who think the show is Britain's Got Talent or I'm A Celebrity Male (or Kym) happy. If they get there it will also allow the two best dancers to fight for the dancing prize which may be second place. Some people can laugh at Chris and rejoice when he wins. Others can laugh at Chris winning and then note who really won the dancing competition.

Their problem is do they have the nerve to decide to do it or are they happy to do nothing and have an unbalanced final or lose the BGT audience if it means not having to decide anything. The issue is then when do they do have the rollover week and is that fair on who goes the week when they decide not to have one?
