I would think you would have to do a fair share of sucking up for you to be picked out for a mention.
I got mine read out (for Jade) at the first attempt...

I am sure that Claudia will be quoting from the BBC SCD forums. Particular forums there appear to be shut down whenever the BBC dislikes what is being said. Therefore there are plenty of sweetly worded comments to choose from.

Yes, but sometimes the BBC forums are harsher (or just more negative) than this one.

Perhaps instead of saying "let me tell you what the forums are saying", Claudia should say "let me tell you what your fans in the forums are saying." That would at least be nearer the truth.

(Sometimes, she does say "fans" or something else such as "there are lots of people who love you" which suggest that she's selecting positive comments rather than typical or representative ones, but often she doesn't.)

Do we really need that explaining to us? Surely it's blatantly obvious that they're picking and choosing what they quote? Perhaps I haven't understood your post.

I think you understood it perfectly and came to the same conclusion I did, which is, who cares how Claudia words herself when she passes on messages from the forum!?

Does it make a difference if she specifies whether the comments are from fans or from the forum as a whole?

It's neither here nor there Veri.

To question Claudia in this instance is being a touch pedantic I think.

Well, not really - it seems so obvious that I thought Veri might have been driving at something else.

Veri? A touch pedantic? Never!

Actually, I find it a little ironic that she's getting her knickers in a twist over this issue given her comments on the "Chris fans are goading Ali fans" thread.

Veri, Claudia doesn't say that all the forums are rife with the type of messages she's quoting. I'd be pretty sure that the couples on the show and the majority of people at home are perfectly aware that there are negative comments about them as well. And those that don't should be locked away on a safe house with no dangerous objects and padding on every sharp corner.

Everything on ITT is lovely and gorgeous and fabulous and everyone is terrific and wonderful and brave and one day the world will be as one.

And all the dances are really really hard and all the celebs are trying really, really hard and no one wants to go home (cept maybe Flavia) ...

"And Alesha did say she hated you but she meant it in a good way......"

How could I have forgotten IN A GOOD WAY...........

Like Claudia's dancing! She's rubbish - but in a good way. With smiles and big heels and laughter!

And then she falls off them and sprains her ankle. Then we can start a thread about whether she should get a bye until next week. Or get drummed out of ITT.

Heh, heh. I see where you've gone wrong. For the dig about the other thread, you had to find a place to put an "all" in my post, and so you had to put it in front of "forums" -- even though that was never the issue. It was never about whether it was all or some forums.

I'd be pretty sure that the couples on the show and the majority of people at home are perfectly aware that there are negative comments about them as well. And those that don't should be locked away on a safe house with no dangerous objects and padding on every sharp corner.
I doubt that most people at home have any idea what sorts of negative comments there are.

I did notice, though, that Claudia left out her usual misrepresentation of the forums when talking with Ali and Brian today. No doubt quoting positive posts would have spoiled the subtly negative impression that was being created in the rest of the item.

If the difference between truth and falsehood is "pedantic", then three cheers for pedantry.

I will continue to care whether ITT's presenter is spreading falsehoods, even if other viewers don't.

But I can see it doesn't pay to adopt a more conciliatory line, so in future I'll stick to saying that if Claudia claudia can't mention the forums without misrepresenting them, then she shouldn't mention them at all.

Yeh okay, but you're being pedantic again. Your problem seems to be that Claudia is misrepresenting the forums because she only quotes lovely, lovely messages. However, I haven't heard Claudia claim that she's trying to represent the forums. She's just giving the couples a bit of an ego boost by reading them messages of support. Presumably, after she's read these, you'd like her to say something like, "Oh yeah and there were, of course, the usual shedload of posts saying you were utterly sh*t and made them want to slash their wrists with a rusty razor but we won't go into that."

Not going to happen. As ESPIONdansant so eloquently put it - "ITT is la la land".
