In the charleston ... Ali was the only celebdancer to completely change her persona to fit the dance

Laila .. was Laila doing the charleston (albeit well, I thought) .. and Chris the same

Maybe she needs a dark coloured - like purple or black - cut down to here, hoiked up to there kind of dress to get her into character. The pastelly soufflé dresses are all nice and sweet and that's how she performs in them. Her ballrooms are lovely, but the latins have been meh. As an actress, something like the colour of a costume can help towards characterisation. The raspberry coloured Charleston dress did wonders for her. She was funny and ditzy and came out of her shell so what she needs is a dress that makes her look a bit slutty and dirty.

Indeed it would be stretching the meaning of the words beyond known interpretation to describe Chris as sexy and sassy or Nat, Zoe or jade as notably more successful at it. Even Ricky seems to have failed despite the physique. Its a bit pontless pointing out that one contestant might get a B or B minus for something when the opposition can't get an A either and the person claimed to be doing best in the vote would get a D.

She does need to let go more in the latin dances, but every winner has a weakness, maybe that'll be Ali's, her ballroom more than makes up for it.”

I don't think she needs to become "in your face" sexy..it would look ridiculous anyway. I do think she needs to find some "attitude" for her Latin. For some dances she needs to look proud, aloof and arrogant. For others, she has to be the temptress but remain a little disdainful..with the right attitude, it will be naturally sexy.
For her "party" dances, she just needs to let go, enjoy herself and stop thinking so much. I think she did get it right for the Charleston, I wasn't keen on the "marionette coming alive" routine, but she captured the crazy mood of the dance.

nothing out of the ordinary yet the judges go completely "ga ga" over her.

A '10' for their group VW, what with Brian's floor craft so shocking, if we are to believe 'The Flav' this avo with Claudia Her latin doesn't sparkle or sizzle for that matter...

I like Ali just the way she is, and obviously Brian does too

To be honest I don't think I want to see any of the couples that are left doing 'sexy* Chris is many good things but sexy is not one of them and Laila is too ladylike...maybe Ricky could do it.

I think Bruno is a little too excitable sometimes.

Ali has been my least favourite contestant from day 1 - too much of the teacher's pet for my liking. But now, with so many nasty comments about her on here, I find myself beginning to like her.

She doesn't have the Alesha are Kelly Brook raunchy sexy style in her.
She is a more graceful ladylike dancer. Leave it out Bruno. She is fine the way she is imo.

Bland, that's what she is....who are they kiddin'.

Just look at all her latin (so called) passionate dances so far:
cha-cha-cha....as cheesy as ol' Bruce's Jokes

paso doble....as fiery as a wet blanket...landed her right in the dance off

salsa....uhm spicy, party flavor...I don't think so....hangin' on for dear life more like

samba....time for a party....NOT...

Did they do a rumba yet....if they did I can't remember (everything latin looks the same) if they didn't well then something tells me it won't unleash her animal instinct.

They are so overrated it's getting kind of pathetic....

....alright then BRING on THE BACKLASH ”

Oh dear OP, maybe you are just watching the wrong kind of show for your needs and taste. Perhaps SCD is just not for you. Perhaps you should get together with mr wey-hey goodman and get off elesewhere, feast your eyes full of raunch down at peppermint hippos or some other lap top dancing boozer.

I don't know if it's always 'raunch' that one needs to get a Latin spirit going on in one's Latin dances.

I'm trying to illustrate this by thinking about the pro female dancers and which ones IMO are not overtly raunchy. Erin springs to mind, as does Katya, as does Natalie.

Yet Erin and Katya at least, can pull off a perfectly passable tango and all three girls bring enough bounce and fun to the faster Latin dances that they don't look awkward (unlike Hayley last series, who I thought really didn't enjoy her Latin at all).

It's more about giving it the old 'look at me!' when you dance Latin, trying to command the floor and the audience. And Ali doesn't do that - even when she DOES act sexy (and she did a few times in that cha-cha), she's all about performing to Brian (with whom she obviously feels comfy enough to try a bit of down-and-dirty), not to the crowds.

Think a bit more about the viewers, Ms B, and you'll be the one who ends up with that glitterball

But she may have a job on competing with Ola's next catsuit ... which is surely lurking on the horizon?! ”

Oh dear I am so bored with the publicity regarding their "romance". Sorry I find it so irritating this constant are they or aren't they nonsense!!. For all we know Brian may not be interested in women at all, most professional dancers are gay!! Each year Strictly gets one couple to have a "romance" just to grab headlines. No doubt after Strictly Ali and Brian will never see each other again and it will be on to the next celeb who will be marvelous, fantastic and they will have special relationship!!!!! LOL YAWN.

Of the eight male pros who started this year's SCD, seven are known to be or have been in long-term relationships with women. Vincent (ex-Flavia), Darren (Lilia), James (Ola), Brendan (ex-Camilla plus >= 5 others, now Zoe Hobbs) Anton (can't name his current though he mentions her) and Brian (5-year relationship with Aubree Marchione). Matt Cutler was married to Nicole for 7 years. Rumours do exist about the nature of this marriage, but facts are facts.

Only Ian Waite has never been mentioned as living with a woman.

This doesn't seem to fit in with your claim, does it? Nor does the weekly live and videoed evidence of Brian's devotion to Ali. Men I talk to all say he behaves as if he's totally smitten.

Ah, but you're coming to those conclusions based on a very small group of people. I'm sure DancingGirl isn't making sweeping assumptions, but has more accurate statistics from a larger sample group to which the rest of us aren't privy...

Don't know if Ali can do really sexy, although I would love her to. But I was pleasantly surprised by her charston. I thought it was spectacular in fact and at least saw another side to her.

Is that meant to be can or can't do sexy? As I watched her in that role in Hollyoaks and I come down heavily on the side of can't. At least for that role, I must have been missing something if she was.
