Is RedOne overrated???
Zack06

I've been wondering about this for a while. It seems all these artists suddenly want to work with him, yet the more production I hear from him the more I think that maybe he is overrated.

The songs he did for GaGa are very good from both her albums, the songs he did for Alexandra Burke, Pixie and Kat DeLuna are also original and very good.

However every other song he has produced recently all sound the same, with that horn sound and similar beats. What do you guys think??

Backstreet Boys' Straight Through My Heart is really good.

But Fire Burning by Sean Kingston will forever remain a low point in his career I'm sure.

EDIT - I also love About A Girl and Bad Romance.

I think he is better than Calvin Harris and David Guetta.

I think he's great, however i hate it when producers insist on sticking their names in their songs. When Lady GaGa sung 'RedOne' on JD it wasn't too bad, but the Sugababes singing it on AAG just sounds weird!

I also hated it when Darkchild did it, and don't get me started on Akon!!

I love it when people sing "Redwine" when they are listening to the song and you think " ha ha!

Here's two of my favourite RedOne productions, for Swedish R&B Pop Singer Darin who I think should try releasing his tracks in the UK

Breathing Your Love (featuring Kat DeLuna)

I love the Lady GaGa songs. I love the Alexandra Burke songs. I love "About A Girl" and "Breathing Your Love".

So no, he isn't over-rated. Completely deserves all the praise

Let's put it this way, his Greatest Hits compilation will be immense. The guy can also sing, so when he gets round to releasing his own material, I expect he'll excel.

He produced Remedy for Little Boots as well but initially you wouldn't know as she doesn't sing "RedOne... Little Boots" in the beginning of the song. That would sound weird IMO. He also produced Here We Go Again for Pixie Lott's album - you can hear it on the beginning of the song when she singd "RedOne, Pixie".

He seems to be on top of the game at the moment. Thank God he is no Ryan "all the songs I produce sound the same" Tedder

no way is he overrated! he's produced some huge hits recently, it's no wonder so many singers are queuing up to work with him right now. i love almost every song he's produced (of the ones i've heard), and he even achieved the impossible - making a Sean Kingston song (Fire Burning) actually sound rather good. well, to me anyway.

Well he is very different from them so I don't see why you would like him better than them two

They both do dance music. Red One does a variety.

The obligatory 'Red One!' stamp is gonna become annoying petty soon.

Only noticed the other day that Enrique's Takin Back My Love's got it in the intro too...

Fair point, but I mean in terms of when they produce other peoples work. Calvin produced a few Kylie tracks that weren't particularly groundbreaking by any standard, and David has produced quite a lot too. He did I Gotta Feeling and I just don't get the hype with that song to be honest.

They are all pop music producers and are all very good at what they do, but I just prefer RedOne's work, that's all

I consider that one of the highlights of his career so far. Really proves what a versatile producer he is

Only his work with Lady Gaga really stands out, the rest sounds quite generic really.

True, though I think his stuff with Alexandra Burke is good. Broken Heels is good, Dumb is a bit samey, but The Silence shocked me, I wouldn't have realised that it was RedOne who produced it unless someone told me. I love that song.

Otherwise besides Alex, GaGa and Kat DeLuna all his other stuff sounds recycled.
