Another Humax retune problem.

We in the Northwest have had to do another retune (the second in a month) because of the Winter Hill transmitter closing down the last of its analogue signals. All seems to have gone well with my LG LCD flatscreen TV, but not with the Humax 9200T which has stored most of the channels in their previous positions i.e. BBC1 on button 1 of the remote, ch5 on button 5 etc., but Sky News, originally on ch.82 is now only available on ch 816 and I can't seem to find a way to move it from 816 to ch.82. The reason for wanting to put it on channel 82 is because BBC News 24 is on ch.80, Parliament is on 81 and Sky Sports is on ch.83. When I press '82' on my remote control I get the label giving the channel number - 82, and the channel name - Sky News, but the screen is blank except for the advice - 'Bad or no signal'. I've tried Channel Edit, I've tried Favourites and I have retuned three times using Automatic tuning but without success. It's a pity there isn't an option labelled 'Move channel' or something similar. I'd appreciate some help with this one, please.

I suspect you are a victim of the Winter Hill/Moel Y Parc confusion. Or the poor auto tune ability of the Humax.

There are several posts in the TV forum about people who auto tune and get Welsh services when they were expecting English and so on. All due to a certain amount of UHF channel overlap.

The other thing I noticed with my LG TV/Humax 9150 combo is that the Humax is pretty much hopeless at replacing channels during an auto tune. I found this out at the nationwide retune when they moved Five and a few other channels from one mux to another.

Like you the telly retuned without a single problem and everything is in it's rightful place. The Humax however was a load of the brown smelly stuff in comparison. The channels were all over the place, even ones that hadn't moved!

The only way to properly retune a Humax is to completely zap all exisiting channel information before you go anywhere near retuning. You can do this in one of two ways.

Either do a full reset on the Humax which will also lose all timer settings you may have and a few other set up options. Or go into the Channel Edit menu option use Select All to highlight all the TV channels and then use Delete to get rid of them. Repeat this for the Radio channels as well.

Now you will have zero channels but this time when you retune it should populate the list correctly. At least with my 9150 it did. If you still get problems, eg the Welsh/English service confusion (usually indicated by S4C appearing on button 4) then a manual tune may be the only solution. But try zapping all the channels first and see if that sorts it.

Thanks chrisjr... been having problems with my 9200T for the last month... but deleting all the TV and radio stations and retuning has worked a treat!

Thanks for that, chrisjr, but I am totally undeserving of yours or any one elses assistance on this retune problem. Cast your mind back to the 4th of November, this guy "Dunnroamin" requested in these forums for help with exactly the same problem, and you were one of those who took the time and effort to try to help him, and here he is at it again (the cheek of the bloke!). The first time round, advice was given to do a complete reset using the Default Setting option available from the Menu, this proved to be the answer, and so it is again. I have to admit to being that bounder - Dunnroamin. My only plea of mitigation is that I have been to bed several times since then plus, at my age (I'd rather not say) several million brain cells have fallen off their perches, the result of which is I had forgotten about this valuable advice. Regards to all, D.
