Watching BBC Breakfast (as always) yesterday morn - they were very early on discussing with Chris his dancing from the weekend. Decided (as they were going to have Natalie and Vincent on) to send an email wishing Chris and Ola lots of luck for Saturday - as we have been supporting him from the start - imagine my suprise to get a reply from Chris himself in an email thanking me and my family for our good wishes - how lovely

Yup I agree good on him......I got a lovely email from Jade when I sent one via her website after she withdrew.

People have also said how friendly he is to the public at the show too, and always says thankyou to the camera when they are voted through by the public, that sort of thing goes a long way with me.

It's amazing what a canny sense of PR can do for your image. Doesn't take much, but creates a lasting image.

Clever man, but then he is in media.

How deeply cynical.

good manners cost nothing and I'm glad that Chris seems to be as lovely as I thought he would be!

I don't think Max Clifford is quaking in his boots. This would have to be the most subtle PR campaign known to man. Especially as this is largely unnoticed by 99.9% of people watching and voting. If the OP hadn't posted you wouldn't have even known that he replies to emails.

Sending a polite thank you note to fans who email him is hardly the worst exceseses of PR. (Now if he was getting himself papped for fauxmance style loved up shots with Ola then I'm with you )

I notice who says thank you to the camera too!

I think Chris is BOTH media savvy AND a polite and decent guy. It doesn't have to be one or t'other.
