There has never been an SCD like it. Not a week goes by without someone being either injured or sick. I was wondering what calamity was going to happen this week and now Ricky is down with flu and is unable to train again.

Ricky has a gruelling schedule.

It was only a matter of time before it took its toll on his body.

I hope he makes a swift recovery or he'll look under-rehearsed again.

This series really has been the worse for illness and injury. I'm sure the producers will be glad when its all over!

I agree. I think it is to much to take on SCD when you are working full time in a soap. He has to learn his lines as well as long hours filming, and then as Hollyoaks is filmed in Liverpool he has to drive down to London on Fri and Sat.

Poor Ricky, being ill isnt nice and I hope he feels better soon but what I dont understand is why these celebs agree to take part in Strictly whilst they have a full on schedule like he does - he must have seen the show and known what it involved surely?

oo, perhaps we'll get a 'should Ricky get a bye' thread soon?

Hopefully Bhoy will realise that there are no byes once the quarter final stages are reached.

I hear they're making plans to merge 'Strictly' and 'Casualty' into one show next year.

Is it a case of you're asked once only and if you can't that's it?
Perhaps he thought it was this series or never.

I seem to remember that when Ricky signed up for SCD he didn't have a big storyline - that materialised shortly after.
I would say he must be really 'run down' with all his schedule involves to be so ill - pushing himself too hard.

Hope it is 'man flu' as he calls it and not the full blown thing.
Hot fluids and 24 hours in bed, Ricky!

From what he tweets hes been living on junk food too so that won't have helped keep his health and fitness levels up.

I'm sure a lot of them don't really know how much work and commitment the show actually involves before they sign up. Theres always a few every year who seem to have punishing schedules on top of training. They must be mad!

I'm really baffled that the Hollyoaks team would make him a main character when they know he's doing SCD. Seems mean. He's doing the show a lot of good by doing Strictly while he's still in, rather than waiting till he's left them and he's likely to bring them more viewers - particularly if they give him the chance to learn the dances. With a big cast like they have it can't be that difficult to juggle stories around. (I'm saying this - I've never actually watched it so I don't really know!)

OT - yes, they are jinxed. It's the 'what can go wrong will go wrong' series. It's such a shame (still missing Jade ).
