Sean the Sheep series recording problem

I know I'm sad but its one of the best cartoons going.

There are two programmes on side by side at 16:20 each night so I set series record.
However it records 7min of the first then 10 min of the 2nd which means that you dont get the end of the first one but it finishes at the start of the 2nd recording and then records the 2nd one which is complete. I hope this makes sense? I suspect its Auntie Beeb thats the problem

Sounds like the beeb are screwing up the running status flags again like the major screw up with last weeks strictly come dancing on the HD channel

The EPG has the first programme as 16:20 to 16:25 and the second programme as 16:25 to 16:35. Thus it will always chop off the end of the first (new) episode. The end bit will be on the beginning of the second recording but a few seconds will be missing.

I was caught out by this last week, so I set a weekday recording from 16:18 to 16:40. Then I missed one completely because of the 0314 - 0314 bug introduced by the 1.00.11 firmware! So that b******d up my attempt to record all the Shaun the Sheep episodes (already got the original 40).

Something doesn't sound right here.

If the first prog is 5mins 16:20-16:25, and the second prog is 10 mins 16:25-16:35, why should you expect it to chop the end of the first off?

The OP reports it records 7mins of the first prog, and 10 mins of the second "complete".

Do either of you have your Recording Start/End times in the Menu>Settings>Recording set to n mins, or Auto? i.e. is Autopadding in play here?

The results as far as I can make out the way they are described look like AutoPadding. It drops the middle padding, but records from the original EPG scheduled times. If the progs don't actuallt start/stop in accordance with these times, the AutoPadded Timer will still record to the original times, and you can get the end of one at the start of the other, or vice versa.

Accurate Recording, shouldn't act in this way, even if they get it wrong.

I may have misunderstood the description of what happened, though

Rgds.

Actually there is one episode only per day on BBCHD at 17:50, except Thursday when it is on at 17:35, that is except next week when it is on at 17:50 all week.
Watch it on SD when it's on DH? Not likely.

I also watch it on HD and hadn't realised there were two episodes on SD. On the other hand it makes me laugh so much that two on the trot would probably be more than I could stand.

Records fine at 17:50 here

I do have pre- and post padding added (2mins and 5mins respectively) as I find that much more reliable than AR, so I'm not surprised that the recordings behaved in the way they did. I just wish the EPG didn't separate the two episodes as it does.

I only record the SD version so I can easily put this on a DVD using VideoreDo TV Suite. I've got all 10 of the new HD episodes but I have no means of converting these to a format suitable for editing/authoring. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Just to confirm, this is definitely another example of why it's best to use Auto.

I have had a series link set for the past two weeks and have just checked the recordings. Each one is eight minutes long and starts during the CBBC ident.

The "actual date and time" for each one seems to amount to eight minutes too, so I wonder if the padding is screwing things up a bit for the non-Autos?

Agree with this. I have also series link set with Auto and no problems with start/end
