My channels have gone Welsh.

Lost all my channels yeterday, retuned and now I have ITV1 Wales and S4C replacing Granada and C

How can I get them back? I know they're there but they're under different channel numbers.

Edit: My BBC channels are Welsh too. I have Humax 9150T.

Use the instructions in this post to do it :-

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...2&postcount=19

Depending on which Granadaland transmitter your aerial is pointing at, you will need to manually tune in to the UHF channel numbers to avoid what you are seeing now.

Just be sure to only manually tune into the 5 main muxes (avoid tuning in the HD Mux).

Rgds.

Delete all your existing radio and tv channels

Go into manual tune and tune the following uhf channels in turn

62 59 58 61 55 (assuming you receive from the main Winter Hill transmitter)

Thanks, I'll try it now.

There's an option to change the frequency - do I leave this or change it?

Done. Thanks graham.

Followed the link in the above post and typed my postcode into the Digital UK website. Told me that my preferred transmitter is Storeton but it's always shown as Winter Hill when I check the signal strength in the Signal Strength menu.

I typed in the post code of the next street to where I live and it's preferred transmitter is Winter Hill..?

Most relays show the ID of the parent transmitter so you cannot always rely on what it says.

Have a look at your aerial. Are the elements horizontal or vertical? That is a more reliable way to tell if you are on a main or relay transmitter. Most main transmitters need the elements horizontal. most relays need them vertical.

To the best of my knowledge Storeton is vertical. And Winter Hill is horizontal.

The link shows a bearing from your house to the transmitter.

Have you got a compass? Go outside and point it in the same direction as the aerial, and compare it to the bearing on website.

Instead of faffing around with manually tuning muxes, you could try learning welsh! Much easier

The BBC even have a website to help you... http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/learnwelsh/

Wasn't the need for manual tuning going to be fixed after the 2nd ?

It can't be, as more regions increase power at dso more and more will be able to receive normally out of area transmissions. This will affect those who have high gain installations to work with pre dso transmission powers even more and those who have installed wideband antenna on grouped transmitters when not required. Fact of life I am afraid

I've just spent about an hour on the phone helping my father manually retune his 9200. Unless we are missing something it's not working using those channels. All he is getting is radio stations between 700 and 800

From the menu he selected Manual Search > Channel and then chooses a channel number and OK.

Then Saves the result before repeating the steps with the other channel numbers.

Do they have to be done in a particular order ?

I read here somewhere that the problem was caused by the 9200 not be able to handle 2k and 8k at the same time and it would be ok after the DSO completed.

Those channels (62 59 58 61 55) worked fine for me on Winter Hill. The order is not important, but you should delete all TV and Radio channels first, before you tune manually.

Possibly he did have both TV & Radio channels but was in 'Radio' mode when he was looking at what was available.

Ask him to slide down the flap on the remote and use the TV/Radio toggle bottom left.

Deleting the stations again and doing an autotune seems to have fixed everything. Although why this didn't work the first few times is a mystery.

I had this same problem and retuned manually however an automated message keeps appearing asking me to do a retune. Is there anyway to turn this off ?
Cheers

Afraid not. The message times out after about three minutes though so if you switch the box on and then go and make a brew or something by the time you get back it should have gone. Even so, all you have to do is just press "OK", so it's not really that much of annoyance, is it? Having said that, rumour has it Humax are putting together another software update which will get rid of this, or at least make it less frequent.

I read about this problem on the news the other week , a possible fix was to start the scan with the ariel disconnected because the welsh channels are a the start of the scan and then plug the ariel in when it has gone past them, easier said than done i know.

Why not do it properly using my instructions for a Manual Search, Humax do warn against plugging the aerial in and out while the box is connected to the mains.

The reason for doing a Manual Search is to target the six (five after DSO) multiplexes coming only from your preferred transmitter. The UHF channel numbers for your six/five multiplexes (digital channels) from your preferred transmitter can be obtained from the digitaluk web-site, enter your post code and also tick the "I am in the aerial installation trade" box. Your UHF channel numbers are in the grey columns in the Coverage prediction section. The compass bearing for the available transmitters at your address are also shown so you can check to see which transmitter your aerial is actually pointing at. You should only use the transmitter that your aerial is pointing at.

First you need to delete all existing channels.
Menu > Edit Channels > Edit Channel Lists > Password (0000) and delete all TV channels, note there is a Select All button. Go to Group, select Radio and delete all the radio channels. Press Exit on the remote control and when invited save all the changes.

You will now get a message saying No channels are available……, press OK. You should now be taken to the Installation menu, choose Manual Search. Select the first UHF channel number obtained from the digitaluk web-site for Channel (actually the order doesn’t matter) and press Search. When the search completes, Save. Select the next UHF channel number for Channel and press Search.....Save. Repeat this for all six/five UHF channel numbers and to finish press the Exit button. You will now find all your Freeview channels on their correct numbers with none in the 800 range. Good luck.
