Since we all moan so much about the judges and perceived bias, teachers pets etc, what about introducing a different guest judge every week, ideally perhaps a non-celebrity professional judge from the dance world. Also, don't have them sitting with the judging panel, put them somewhere else so that they can't discuss their thoughts with the other judges before marking or commenting.
It would be fascinating to see what someone who had fewer pre-conceived ideas about the contestants had to say and how they would mark. We could even get rid of Len's "casting vote" during the dance off and give it to the guest in the case of a tie.
What do you think? Any other ideas to get over the "favourites" problem when judging?

I liked cassieconvinced's idea that the previous weeks evicted pro is the guest judge for each week

There's no guarantee that anyone else would have less preconceptions about the dancers - particularly if it was someone who had been following the series. Perhaps if you kept them in a darkened room for all previous weeks of the show it might work (!).

I rather like the idea of the previous week's evicted professional dancer having a say, but then they dance in pairs and their professional partner might still be in the competition, and some of them are married to each other too, so there's plenty of scope for bias there!

Maybe have a visiting celebrity judge in rotation, a bit like the host on Have I Got News For You. Probably wouldn't work, but it could be fun!?

I don't think that would go any way to getting rid of the accusations of bias.

I would like to see the speciality dances treated differently to make room for guest judges. So, for example, with the recent rock n roll/Charleston, couldn't we have had one of the couple advising on choreography and the other one guest judging? If everyone did the salsa the same week (or over two weeks, whatever), we could have Chris whatshisface or some other salsa expert to be judge.
