Darcey To Sit In The Middle
Strictly Come Dancing judges Len Goodman and Craig Revel Horwood are to be kept apart for the show's remaining episodes, a report has claimed.
Ballerina Darcey Bussell has agreed to sit between the warring pair when she joins the panel for the first time tomorrow, according to The Mirror. The catbox thinks they should settle this once and for all inside A STEEL CAGE

Ho hum - the reasoning behind last week's tantrum from the pair of them is becoming a bit clearer to me!
I don't know what everyone is expecting from Ms Bussell - although she claims, in her 'Radio Times' feature that she's taken a couple of ballroom/Latin classes in preparation for her 'jury' service, I would imagine that despite having been without question the prima ballerina assoluta of modern times, she probably knows less about the dances she is being paid to judge than the much-maligned Alesha. My personal interpretation, having read the article, is that she took the job purely for the money and to bring her kids on a holiday to London - and spookily enough, when my husband's Book Club catalogue arrived yesterday, it just so happens that Ms Bussell has just published a lengthy series of childrens' books - it seems that it promises to be a lucrative trip for her!

I don't care why she took the job as long as she actually gives us some decent judging and doesn't just go 'oh well, I think that's really good given you've only had seven days to learn it' blah blah blah.
With a name like that I'd have changed it as well. Margot Fonteyn was born Margaret Hookham, Ninette de Valois was born Edris Stannus, Anton Dolin was Sydney Francis Patrick Healey-Kay. It's practically the rules in ballet that you change your name to suit the cause

Goodman is the one causing all the trouble, not Craig. He spoilt a good natured happy show last week with his nasty, vitriolic outburst directed at Craig.

I really must stop accepting everything at face value. |

Are there going to be five judges? Seems a bit over-the-top seeing as the US Dancing With Stars has just three judges. Is there a reason to add another judge?

I could be wrong but on one of Claudia's sojourns down to the ballroom earlier in the series, they pointed out the bigger desk and I thought they indicated then that Darcey would go between Len and Craig, I assumed it was exactly that.

I can't see the point of a fifth judge. Why now? The show has always had four judges so why change it now. Bizarre decision. The scores will change with an extra judge because there's another 10 'judge points' per dance (I think they do two dances this week). What do points make?
Prizes! Oops, wrong show.

Of course Darcey will sit in the middle.
She's the only "star" on the programme this year. |

Still, she deserves some benefit of the doubt, so let's see how she does. Quote:

Sure, Craig plays to the crowd. They all play to the crowd. And Len "Pickle my walnuts" / "You came AHT" / "Give it sahm welly" Goodman is in no position to take the moral high ground on that one. Craig is honest, he's clearly committed to the show 100%, and he's obviously got a great sense of humour, as evidenced by his appearances on ITT. |
