Why Darcey Bussell as a fifth judge is a bad idea

Which would Karen prefer?

Watching the world's greatest couples compete or watch some washed-up ex soapstars on Strictly....i know what's I'd choose

STRICTLY!

Don't think it is the World Championsips Karen is judging as they have just been held in the UK. Karens ability as a judge isn't in question but how they peform - Karen on the Living Channel show was awful and I think she is better TV when giving her critique later. I also think an ex pro on the show or an ex celeb are not right for judging.

Shirley Ballas has been around this season ex World Champion trainer of many top couples including 3 who have won DWTS with their partners would have been a much better choice than Darcy or Alesha - only problem would have been how could Len be top judge - when she has far higher judging credentials than him

Surely Darcey is just as qualified as Craig, Bruno and indeed Arlene? They're all dance professionals with no background in ballroom or latin dancing. She's shown willing to learn the basics herself and I'm sure she'll swot up what she should be looking for, as the others no doubt had to do back in the early days of SCD.

I'm keeping an open mind.

Darcey has wide experience of modern dance as well as ballet - she also appeared with Katherine Jenkins in the Viva La Diva show which required many different elements of performance and choreography.
I think she will be great as the additional judge - I am sure she will give constructive comments without the attention seeking that all the other judges seem to be displaying at the moment!

She did use the phrase World Championships on ITT. I was a bit puzzled.

I don't think they could move Len from top judge spot since they make so much fuss about his position that it would look like an obvious demotion. I hadn't really thought about this, but I guess this could be a barrier to getting someone more qualified to sit on the panel. 5 judges would lessen the need for a top judge though.

Not particularly keen on Darcey being a judge, as much as I like and admire her, simply because it's not her specialism. However the producers seem to want to move the show away from the ballroom/latin discipline and make it into a more general dance show (hence more dances introduced this year). I'd prefer that they didn't do that, but I guess other people might feel differently.

Hope they cut down the comments tonight - more time will be spent on them than the actual dance routines

Bussell hasn't judged them so she won't know if this week's dance is better than one they did, say, four weeks ago. She wasn't there to see the journey. It doesn't make sense to add a new judge near the end of the series because she's not judged their journey. One of the points of the show is to judge the dancers as they grow, as they mature and get used to the experience. Now along comes a new judge with no prior history of judging the dancers and her marks are supposed to be valid!

If you want a fifth judge add it at the beginning of the series not at the end of the series. That seems daft.”

I agree with you in a way. She won't know what they're capable of. I personally think she's just been brought in to see if an extra female Judge creates any tension with Alesha, and to be honest, I think it has.

I think Darcy has fitted in perfectly on the panel, more than Alesha does after all these weeks

Yeah, keep Darcey and ditch Alesha.

It's as if Margo Ledbetter from The Good Life has gatecrashed the show.

Well, they seem to have followed your advice, though I'm not sure what the point of bringing in a fifth judge is when they only have comments from four judges on each dance, so Darcy doesn't even comment on all of them.

I must have been watching a different show..I found Darcey`s crtique bland and non specific, her voice was irritating and she physically stumbled through her words. Her comments repeated other judges including Alehsa.

I thought she was excellent and would easily make a better judge than Alesha if given the opportunity.
