This is a particularly good point, which tends to escape the people who say 'I don't care what it is so long as it's not Simon Cowell'

All these x factor sheep buy the winners single regardless of whether it is good or not. The single last year was dire!!

Christmas number 1 will always be the x factor now, not like it was in years gone by. You'd always get the battle to number 1, not anymore.

It's not far from the truth. Look at your single-buying demographic, and think how many of them will be all that aware of an American rock band from the 90s, compared to a current pop behemoth that dominates airwaves and column inches.

i think that's probably true, not accounting for the air of superiority on this thread of course.

If you're starting a campaign against the XF shouldn't you be choosing at least a more well known recent song? Why not get behind the original song by Miley Cyrus? Help her break into the top 10 for once.

Fight a manufactured puppet pop act with a manufactured puppet pop act.

I mean, I've heard of fighting fire with fire, but still....

F*** YOU SIMON COWELL, I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!...I'll just do what a Facebook group tells me to do instead!

It will fail. The group may have 300'000 members but most of them won't buy it (as has been stated). Why do these people all of a sudden care about the Top 40 anyway?

It must be double that amount of members now and Simon Cowell is not a happy boy.

RATM are signed to Epic Records which are part of Sony Entertainment formerly Sony BMG, who Cowell works for.

Congratulations on falling hook line and sinker into his trap, ha ha.

and congratulations to you for regurgitating a line used by fans of the x factor as though anyone cares.

P.S. The reaction of Mr Cowell to this campaign shows he's not a happy chappy about it. Hardly his trap.

P.P.S. ha ha yourself.

Cowell says the campaign is 'stupid' and that the timing of the show dictates the release date of the winners single. In that case why doesn't he prove to us it's not about him having the Christmas No. 1 year after year by putting next years series on during the summer and have the winning single come out in ,say,September?

I wish people would stop lapping up Simon Cowell. He's a pathetic man with a lot of charisma and is the bullshit spokesman for his record label and TV shows.

He HAS to act as though he's not happy about it, or it wouldn't create the illusion that he cares about the XF getting the number 1 spot and, as a result, people buying it.

Equally, the people who are saying that RATM have anything to do with Simon Cowell are idiots, too. Firstly, not everything under the Sony record label and its sisters send money directly to his bank account. Secondly, there are more people involved with this mass public exploitation than one man - he's just the front of it, and to target him specifically is celebrating celebrity culture more than people who watch The X Factor do every week.

I understand your point but i don't think Mr Cowell is a good enough actor to fake his displeasure that well.

Rage against x-factor should go on the show. Release an Auto tuned song for the mass population, suck up to everyone in the music business and they'll get number 1!
