The daily star today reports that Alfie will be axed!

I hope this is not the case as I believe he is one of Eastenders strongest characters, without him I only hope the bring in some new blood.

I have always loved the show and still do however its fair to say its not what it used to be!

ALFIE.................please dont go

I thought Shane Richie had signed a new contract not long ago.

Alfie is the only character worth watching on EE. (And I am far from being a Shane Richie fan)

If they get rid of Alfie it will the be the biggest mistake ever. There was an outcry about Kelly getting the axe I dread to think of the outcry if they get rid of Alfie.

well I agree however why would the star say such a thing and on the front page.
I know papers often get things a little off the mark however if this in not true then someones head should roll.

However if it is the case he is off Eastenders wont be half the place without him1

Why does anyone bother reading a tabloid newspaper anyway? I consider them totally untrustworthy and absolute c**p! Try reading something decent like The Independent or The Times. At least they have news in them and intelligent comment, not page after page of absolute drivel. Sorry for the rant, but what do you expect - truth from The Sun?

My sister saw that article and it says somthing like he is worried that they wont want a 40 year old slightly overweight bloke anymore. The headline was simply an attention grabber with nothing real to back it up.

Dont worry I doubt they would drop him with the success his character has had.

Well how silly is that, I cant believe they would stoop so low to sell a few papers I mean front page and all that, however the saying goes theres no smoke without fire so I guess we will have to wait to find out the real truth...........

After all the time EE spent getting Kat and Alfie together and all those viewers they gained on the Xmas day epsiodes due to their wedding I doubt they would think of axing him!

It would just be another of those stupid EE decisions!

Wouldn't suprise me, his recent story lines have been very poor indeed, makes you wonder if they have used him too much.... now him and kat are together there doesn't really seem much for him to do.

According to the Shane Ritchie interview on Jonathon Ross's show this Friday, Shane was told by EE producers that he WASN'T ALLOWED to loose any weight because it would alter the character. Therefore is it not safe to assume that they like him the way he is and he is staying? Sounds like the usual tabloid bullsh*t then.

Maybe it was just a publicity stunt. It's got people talking about it anyway

At the moment none are safe , dont be too surprised if Kat goes within the next 12 months, Alfie very soon and another chracater from the past gets replaced with a new actor. Plus watch for the possible return of Robbie too.

After what The Daily Scum wrote last week about the Todd/Karl storyline in Corrie and thier outrageously homophobic rant, I will never believe, buy or look at a Daily Star. Besides EastEnders is already in the doghouse after not getting a Bafta nomination, the lack of good storylines and characters quitting left, right and center. Do you think they'd honestly axe one of their biggest stars?

The only reason I could see Alfie leaving Walford is if Shane Ritchie believes his own hype and jets off to Hollywood for a "Movie" career

shane riche will not be leaving eastenders or be getting sacked all the real truth is that he recently turned 40 in real life and was worrying he''d put on to much weight and that EE wouldn't want him no more so now hes trying to lose weight but has been told not to lose too much as its part of his characters image and they want to keep him

I take on board all what you are saying however alfie has faded into the background, cant see where they can take him now he is married to Kat.

Maybe this new story borrowing money off Andy will bring him to the forefront again

Yeh he and Kat will both be brought to the forefront of things with this storyline. It will all be part of Andy's plan for revenge by destroying their marriage.
