So the heir apparent through the last 3 weeks has been crowned.
It's easy to blame that on the editing of the show (particularily if you wanted someone else to win), however two things to consider.
Firstly, yes he featured prominently in the editing which might fuel throughts that he was set up to win. However, the producers want to output the most interesting and amusing highlights to get the highest viewing figures. Therefore, if Gino was consistently interesting and amusing (as it appears to me) then it follows that he would get a lot of air time.
Secondly, if the edit was skewed to promote someone who was not really so popular in the camp this would be apparent from the interviews, newspaper and mag deals with camp mates as they left. We have seen the reverse of this with Jimmy who has been given little airtime but was consistently mentioned as a great guy and key to the camp by contestants when they left. However, so many of the camp mates have mentioned Gino as being their favourite to win and a lovely person that I do not believe he was edited favourably.
Perhaps all we have seen here is a happy coincidence, someone who ITV wanted to win and a guy who was really popular and well liked by the people he shared time with in the jungle.
I am glad Gino won. For those that keep harping back to the fact he has been in prison, isn't he is a good example of the prison system working at his best. He served his time, he was rehabilitated back into society afterwards and he turned his life around and has made something of himself.
